Today we will be headlining the junior class. Here are six under the radar junior prospects to keep eyes on.
Kohl Rosario, A 6-4 junior combo guard that is both skilled and athletic where he can impact the game in a variety of ways. On the offensive end, Rosario can hurt you from the perimeter as well as finishing on the attack at the rim. Rosario is a pass-first guard where he finds open teammates in their spots as he is very creative when he has the basketball in his hands. On the defensive end, Rosario does a great job anticipating the next pass where he is very active in the passing lanes. He is also an above-average rebounder for his size as he gets the ball quick in transition off missed shots.
KJ Smith, A 6-3 junior guard does a great job when he is running the offense and has a smooth feel for the game. Smith is a dominate three-level scorer who is at his best when he scores off the bounce. He is an ultimate competitor on the defensive end as well where he absorbs pressure while guarding on the ball. He is also an unselfish point guard on the offensive end where he makes good passes to open spots where he averaged over four assists per game as a sophomore last season.
Highlights
Jason Johnson
Jason Johnson
Jason Johnson, A 6-5 junior guard is long and athletic on both ends of the floor where he can score on all three levels. He is a crafty ball handler on the offensive end with a high IQ on whether to shoot versus pass the basketball. On the defensive end, Johnson is an elite rim protector and shot blocker where he uses his length to secure rebounds. Look for Johnson to have a promising junior season where college coaches could start showing interest in him.
Cameron Bryant, A 6-5 junior forward brings a lot of attention with his size and athleticism on both ends of the floor. He is a relentless bucket-getter on the offensive end whether it’s his ability to shoot from beyond the arc or finishing at the front of the rim off lobs. He has elusive quickness for his size getting up and down the floor playing with a high motor at both ends of the floor as well. On the defensive end, Bryant plays with physicality where he frustrates the opposition and can cover a ton of ground.
Cameron Mason
Cameron Mason
Cameron Mason, A 6-3 junior guard that can also play out on the wing does a great job at controlling the tempo of the game. His high IQ continues to impress me with his court vision and ability to create for his teammates. Mason is a three-level scorer who can finish on both sides of the rim at a high level as well. On the defensive end, Mason plays hard-nosed when guarding on the ball where his footwork has continued to improve.
Cornell Wheeler
Cornell Wheeler
Cornell Wheeler, A 6-5 junior wing is very quick for his position and can get to his spots with no flaws. On the offensive end, his ability to finish put-backs have continued to improve and is a threat to shoot from the mid-range as well. On the defensive end, Wheeler plays with a ton of energy and plays with versatility where he can guard multiple positions. Wheeler also does a great job at reading the next pass where he can get tips and deflections turning into steals. The next step in Wheeler’s game will be building more confidence and consistency shooting from the perimeter.
