Continue ReadingThe Prep Hoops Indiana Top 250 Expo has become an annual event that rivals any put on throughout the year in the Hoosier State. On Sunday afternoon and evening at the Noblesville Boys & Girls Club nearly 1500 of the states best Class of 2024, 2025, and 2026 prospects came to display their skills in front of many of the most influential people in Indiana High School Basketball. This event is the premier way to get “on the radar” prior to the high school season. Over the next week or so it will become clear why we always say “nobody does content and event coverage like Prep Hoops Indiana.” With that said, here are the player evaluations from Team 12 of the 2023 Prep Hoops Indiana Top 250 Expo.
***With nearly 150 prospects at our event, I was able to watch 12 of the 16 teams live. Since the event, I’ve gone back to watch the other four on BallerTV in order to complete all of the player evaluations. However, as you can imagine, this is not the easiest task. There were some late player additions and walk-ups that threw a wrench into some rosters. So, if you notice that a name is wrong and/or a player is missing an evaluation please reach out to Brandon Ramsey at coachbrandonramsey@gmail.com or reach out via DM on Twitter @BRamseyKSR and I will resolve any issues. Thanks for your understanding and for participating in the 2023 Prep Hoops Indiana Top 250 Expo!***

This 5’10” left-handed guard proved his ability as a playmaker both on and off of the ball at the showcase. Darrah shoots the ball well off of the dribble knocking in a few jump shots from the mid-range and beyond the arc. He has a smooth release, good footwork, and creates enough separation with his handle to get his shot off consistently. The New Palestine High School sophomore was active as an on-ball defender as well.
A very aggressive offensive player, Wainwright III made several good plays while I was watching him with Team 12 at the Prep Hoops Indiana Top 250 Expo. The Andrean High School prospect is shifty with the ball in his hands, likes to get downhill to attack the basket, and is disruptive on the defensive end of the floor as well. He showcased the ability to get to the rim consistently off of of the dribble from the perimeter. Wainwright III looked comfortable in transition when leading the break.
Trai Davis
Trai Davis
There is no denying the physical and athletic tools of this prospect from Warsaw Community High School. Davis is a 6’3″ wing that attacks closeouts on the perimeter, is excellent running the floor in transition, and can drive it in a straight line to the rim consistently. He has a quick burst, good explosiveness at the end of his drives, and enough strength to finish through contact. The athletic prospect was very effective throughout our event for Team 12.
Trey Owen
Trey Owen
Owen stood out with his toughness on both ends of the floor at the Prep Hoops Indiana Top 250 Expo. The 6’1″ guard from Trinity Lutheran High School consistently crashed the offensive glass from the perimeter which helped keep several balls alive for his team. Additionally, Owen attacked the basket off of the dribble and played off of two feet at the end of his drives which is also good to see from a young prospect. He had a really nice finish on one drive specifically.
Nolan Pickup
Nolan Pickup
Pickup is a versatile, physical forward that was very active both defensively and on the glass throughout the Prep Hoops Indiana Top 250 Expo. The 6’4″ prospect out of Columbus North High School did a very good job of guarding in ballscreen situations. He was able to keep the opposing ball handler in front of him either by hedging or simply switching on to him. Pickup consistently cleaned the defensive glass as well.
Maye is poised for a breakout junior season with Tindley High School. The 6’7″ forward was very impressive at the Prep Hoops Indiana Top 250 Expo with his ability to defend in the post and protect the rim with his size, length, and athleticism. He covers ground quickly for his size and is very agile both end-to-end and laterally while also having enough spring vertically to block shots. Offensively he can attack in a straight line off of the dribble and finishes through contact around the rim.
Higgins possesses excellent physical and athletic tools that allow him to be very versatile on both ends of the floor. That high-upside, two-way ability was on full display at the Prep Hoops Indiana Top 250 Expo. The 6’5″ wing from Floyd Central High School was one of the better prospects at the event with his ability to attack the rim off of the dribble, stretch the floor out beyond the arc, and guard multiple positions. Look for a big junior season from Higgins.
