The one in the southeast in question will be the one in Georgia this Sunday. LakePoint Sports in Cartersville will once again be the site for this year’s festivities. The other events are slated to occur in Illinois, Indiana and Kansas.
After looking at a few of the sophomores that will be on hand northwest of Atlanta, we now turn our attention to the junior class.
Evan Chappell
Evan Chappell
His profile photo on one of his social media accounts is a photo of him at the LakePoint Sports complex in a green 7A Mustangs uniform, so it would only be fitting if he had another stellar outing this weekend at the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo. He is listed at an even six feet and has played his AAU ball with Formula Elite Academy. Chappell understands when the time is right to score and when the time is right to pass. He will receive passes out on the perimeter than attack the basket. Chappell will go either directly to the rim or showcase his soft touch by connecting with a floater.
Xavier Lewis
Xavier Lewis
Lewis raised plenty of eyebrows during the spring and summer when he wore the uniform of SP Elite 2025. The SP stands for Skilled Performance – which is fitting because Lewis has had many skilled performances throughout his career – including those for 4A Miller Grove. Lewis understands how to use his defense to make opposing ball carriers turnover-prone and create additional possessions for his team. Among the methods he utilizes to place the ball through the basket include attacking the basket and connecting from long range. Add in accuracy in the midrange game and one has someone who can score at all three levels in addition to what he gets accomplished as a passer.
DJ Strickland
DJ Strickland
Strickland is slated to be the only representative from the Demons of 5A Warner Robins on hand at this year’s Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo. One can observe that he places a great deal of emphasis on ball handling and limiting turnovers. Whether he has a clear path to the basket or if there is a sea of opposing defenders waiting for him, Strickland has a fearless attitude as an attacker of the rim. Strickland is listed at 6-foot-1. He typically plays as a two guard. Warner Robins moved from Region 1-5A to Region 2-5A last season and put together a 17-7 campaign.
The rare talent that is Ware thrives as a two-sport athlete at Lakeview Academy. During the early months of the fall semester, he is catching passes as a wide receiver for the Lions’ varsity football team. During the months of the spring and summer, he wears the uniform of AAU organization Norcross Heat. Ware is listed at 6-foot-6 and will play with his back to the basket when he is close to the rim. He also has the ability to connect from long range. Ware is also a reliable rebounder and has no problems finishing with the left hand. Ware is mainly listed as a small forward.
