(Kenwood)
The #3 overall prospect in the state showcased what makes him special. Strong and stocky guard with a tremendous burst. His ability to get downhill blowing past his defender is his calling card. Really love the athleticism he brings in the lane with an array of finishing moves. Can also use his strength to draw contact at the rim and convert through it. The jumper flashes especially in the pull up game. No doubt one of the better prospects in the class that is wired to score. How overall floor game and defensive impact will ultimately define what level he is but right now he is trending toward high-major status.
Marquis Clark Marquis Clark 6'2" | PG Whitney Young | 2026 State IL (Whitney Young)
The words slick and smooth are all over the notes next to this top 5 prospects name in our notebook. The Whitney Young point guard is a future star with his elite ball handling getting where ever he wants on the floor and making it look effortless. Consistently lived in the lane for acrobatic layups. Showed some pop on his first step blowing past other top guards. Capable pull up shooter and is an active defender. Best basketball is ahead of this potential high-major lead guard.
Markell Slaughter-Harris Markell Slaughter-Harris 6'1" | PG Hillcrest | 2026 State IL (Hillcrest)
In our first eval of this 6’1” Hillcrest guard there was a lot to like. Loved the speed in the open floor as he went coast to coast on numerous occasions. Quick handles getting in the paint, active hands defensively creating turnovers, and flashed as a passer. Shot it pretty well from three as well. New name at Hillcrest who always produces tough lead guards.
Zyheir Gardner (Crete Monee)
Gardner is a strong 6’0” scoring combo guard. He is a name we have been hearing about for a while, but we don’t rank prospects we have not personally evaluated. That was the case here and he will definitely make a nice debut in our mid-season rankings after what we saw at Pangos. Legit multi level scorer that can finish through and around defenders at the cup. Was a sound pull up jump shooter from beyond the arc. Solid passer with potential to get better.
Noah Mister Noah Mister 6'1" | PG Mt. Carmel | 2026 State IL (Kenwood)
Mister is a point guard from Kenwood that in the first half of the opening game was on fire from deep hitting an array of threes. Our Steve Parham saw him in the first half. We caught the second half of the same came where he changed his mindset and was more of a distributor. Quick dishes on the fly, dump off passes, pushing, and finding shooters.
Morgan Travis Morgan Travis 5'11" | PG De La Salle | 2026 State IL (De La Salle)
Travis is one of the more under appreciated lead guards in the class. Like what we saw from the sophomore De La Salle guard. Good strength and has burst off the bounce getting in the lane with strength. Speed in the open floor pushing it and is a sound three point shooter pulling up and off the catch. Look for him to have a big season.
Carter Newsome Carter Newsome 5'10" | PG Waukegan | 2026 IL (Waukegan)
Newsome is a smaller point guard that played with confidence. Shifty ball handler that won off the dribble and was adept at finishing in the lane with craftiness and scoop shots.
Tony Bradford Tony Bradford 6'1" | PG Peoria Manual | 2026 State IL (Peoria Manual)
Bradford is a 6’1” point guard from Manual that flashed in the game we saw him. Slick ball handler that made nifty layups in the paint and was adept at scoop shots as well. Made some plays in transition as well.
