Last week we published the newest edition of our 2024 rankings. Here are some brief thoughts on the movement that occured.

Top 10

[player_tooltip player_id='1189096' first='Jalil' last='Bethea'] up to #1

Even with a few departures out-of-state, PA's 2024 class is still really good. And before the departures Bethea had the resume and abilities of a Top 10 prospect & player in the country. So this is long overdue. He continues to compete at a high level, even since his commitment to the Hurricanes. Don't be surprised if he's a burger boy.

Deuce Ketner in the Top 5

Even in his "bad" games, Ketner has still been productive and he hasn't really had bad games. The Friars have had marquee matchups in every fall event and Ketner has shown up in each one. Even if there are better prospects or more heralded players ranked below him, they don't have a better resume than he does over the last 3-5 months. Now it's time for college coaches to get serious about him.

Big Risers

[player_tooltip player_id='2229111' first='Lance' last='Piper'] #169 to #9

Piper's is a name most in the state aren't familiar with. He's from NY, played on a talented Phelps team that wasn't chasing the hype, and ran with a good New Heights Lightning EYBL squad. So he's never been the guy. But when you turn on the tape, it's easy to see why South Carolina wanted him. Piper has positional size for a SG/SF, fluidity as a defender, and he shoots the cover off the ball. That's a recipe for a top 20 player.

[player_tooltip player_id='1589269' first='Nyle' last='Ralph-Beyer'] #126 to #49

After a stellar spring and summer, a good fall, and a commitment to Sacred Heart, his talent and production are finally being reflected in our rankings. NRB took it to everyone he faced when the spotlight was on him and he had to produce. But he's not done yet. With a full senior season ahead, he should rise some more.

[player_tooltip player_id='1188064' first='Ty' last='Iwanonkiw'] #102 to #35

Iwanonkiw had a relatively quiet summer. But if you watch his game, he's hard to not like. He had an eye-opening 2022 summer with [program_tooltip program_id='2078709' first='Team' last='Final'] EYBL 16U and a good junior campaign. As a modern big man, he has the skill set and measurables that college coaches covet. Our staff at PH is ahead of the curve on him. Buy stock now.
