Allen is the most experienced point guard in Class 6. He has two years of high level play on his resume and was a coaches all-state selection as a sophomore. Oak Park has a chance to make a deep run and he’ll be the head of the snake. As a sophomore Allen averaged 16.7 PPG, 8.7 RPG, and 3.1 APG. He has elite size for the position at 6’4 and is capable of setting a tone on both sides of the ball. Oak Park’s new coach and former Kansas star, Sherron Collins, has the perfect floor general to lead him through his first season. Expectations are high and Allen had a history of shattering those.
Watson is the most explosive scorer of this bunch and brings experience as a senior. Lee’s Summit West has a balanced attack with tons of talent and he still managed to average 15.5 PPG and 6.4 RPG as a junior. The Cleveland State commit is responsible for a ton of shot-making and ball-handling. He has a chance to lead this team to a Final 4 and cement his legacy in a storied program. The potential success, production, and body of work are all there for him to be on the real list following the season.
McCubbin was a coaches all-state selection last season in Class 6. His selfless approach and versatile skill-set at 6’7 made him an obvious choice. Battle surprised many and had a great season. He was someone who led them in scoring, rebounds, assists, and blocks on any given night. A player who takes what the defense gives him. McCubbin makes a major impact on the defensive side of the ball. He guards the other team’s top player and is capable of forcing an off night. One of the most well-rounded players in the state.
Wilson is the top returner from a dominant Staley team. The 6’7 forward actively looks to make others better and has the athletic ability to impact as a defender. He guards multiple positions, blows up shots at the rim, and gives them a winning edge with his intangibles. His stats are going to take a major leap this season due to increased opportunity. Staley is still regarded as a top program in Class 6. Wilson is someone who will stuff the stat sheet, cause opposing coaches to change their gameplan, and gain more recruiting traction as the season moves on. We’re betting on him having a huge junior campaign.
Camp is the most impactful player on a Hickman team who we expect to be very good this season. The 6’6, 240lb forward is a mismatch for most. He’s powerful as an interior scorer and has soft touch on running shots. He’s an excellent passer and carves out space as a rebounder. Such a versatile talent and someone who will be on double-double watch every night. He’s playing in a system that will allow him to flourish and provide plenty of opportunity. The final forward spot could’ve gone to many players. Ultimately we think Camp is best fit with his ability to put up big numbers and be the top player on a team who can make a potential state run.
