Prep Hoops Florida scout Ross Van De Griek is taking a deep dive and providing a list of impact transfers who could be on the watch list this season.
Daniel MacGregor, A 6-1 senior guard who recently committed to Stetson University joins a loaded Sports Leadership & Management roster looking to get back into at least the Final Four this season. MacGregor brings a ton of strength and toughness to his game where he can impact the game scoring at the front of the rim as well as shooting from the mid-range. On the defensive end, he has a strong knack for making things difficult for opposing guards where he can cover a ton of ground as well as rebound well for his size. Look for MacGregor to play with more confidence as well as getting his new teammates involved often.
Jerry Couzens
Jerry Couzens
Jerry “Tre” Couzens, A 5-10 senior guard who transferred from Wiregrass Ranch to Leto gives a great amount of energy on the defensive end making havoc on and off the ball. Couzens is very active when it comes to jumping the passing lanes where he has good length and activity. On the offensive end, he has a burst of speed where he can get to the front of the rim finishing comfortably with either hand. He also plays with a ton of consistency when it comes to getting to his spots where he can score off the bounce as well as off the catch. Look for Couzens to play with more confidence as he continues to improve his perimeter shooting this season.
Ian Kyler, A 6-1 junior guard who transferred from Alonso to Sickles is a pure shooter from the perimeter. He can also initiate the offense whether it’s running the primary point guard position or playing off the ball as he does a great job in the pick-and-pop situations. Kyler also plays productive defense where he can jump into the passing lanes for tips and deflections which led to production on the offensive end as well. He is also considered to be an above-average rebounder for his size as well.
Highlights
Julien Barnett, A 6-5 senior guard who transferred from North Tampa Christian to King over the summer. Barnett has a ton of upside as he plays with a high motor for his size. Barnett plays with a ton of length and speed where he can play multiple positions at both ends of the floor as well. Barnett has also gained more confidence in scoring from the mid-range as he can pull up either off the catch or the bounce at a high level. Look for college coaches to start chiming in on this prospect as he is poised to have a breakout season.
Ezekiel Udozorh
Ezekiel Udozorh
Ezekiel Udozorh, A 6-5 combo guard who comes to North Tampa Christian from Brooks-DeBartolo. Udozorh is a sneaky and athletic guard who can impact the game across all three scoring levels on the offensive end where he can score off the catch as well as off the bounce. He also plays with speed and shows great movement on the defensive end where he can cover a lot of ground and guard multiple positions. Udozorh also plays with a ton of physicality and aggressiveness when it comes to crashing the boards as he has shown great promise on the glass at both ends. Coaches should start contacting him real soon as he has several mid-major D1 schools interested in him.
