The WVBC team played those two games with only five players so we’ll take this opportunity to highlight a few players from opposing squads as well.
Isaly set the tone from tip of game 1 to the buzzer on game two. His court awareness and patience with tempo and pace helped not only keep legs under the BlueChips but keep the opponents on their heels and guessing where the ball was located. Cruz also stepped up in his scoring on this closing day and hit a nice array of mid-range jumpers and got to the rim to finish drives when the opportunity presented itself. Isaly certainly fashioned himself as a true two-way point guard and guarded hard on the defensive end and disrupted several plays as well as speeding up the opposing guards.
Highlights
McGee showed some big progress Sunday (10/29) as he even got into the scoring mix showing he has a capable mid-range game as well as strong finishes at the rim off two feet. Ethan has well above average athletic ability and did a great job using it to gobble up loose balls, long rebounds and finish plays on offense. He’s certainly showed measurable progress through this fall league and has great momentum and confidence going into school season.
Bryant absolutely exploded in his last fall league appearance. Showing a little more driving ability with at the rim finishes as well as lighting up the gym from mid-range and three. He was a handful to guard and nobody from either team seemed to be able to slow him down. Jayden also took upon himself to task of a couple tough defensive matchups and performed extremely well on the defensive end. An overall fantastic performance on both ends and tremendous growth from game one on 9/30 to 10/29.
Highlights
Luzader was an absolute beast on Sunday (10/29). He swiped double digit rebounds in both games as well as score on the interior on several occasions. Luzader played high and low post and is extremely comfortable at both. Slowly developing his mid-range jumper to develop those stretch-4 skills, Preston pulled the trigger and connected a few times around the baseline/short corner area as well as above the block and elbow areas. Preston has been very consistent since his first appearance but Sunday he was certainly at his best yet at AC. Returning all-state player, all state tournament team and WV’s best big in single A.
Highlights
Pittsnogle put on a show Sunday (10/29) and got folks attention early and often vs. University H.S. with several put backs, mid ranges and stepping out at most every spot at the three-point line and shooting at a high percentage. Undoubtedly his best performance yet offensively as well as taking some big steps in improving his defensive game. Kwynsie’s progress through these eight games at AC have been enjoyable to watch with Sunday being a huge exclamation point for him.
Bandy was the highlight of the University team for sure. He has also shown improvement from September until now as he looks much more comfortable in his role which is likely lead scorer for the Hawks. A dynamic athlete and player Demarcus has some great tools to use especially in transition. Bandy showed three level scoring as well as great hustle on defense.
Payton came out for MOV Elite a little cold but quickly heated up and showed why he’s a proven long range sniper for any team who’s jersey he dons. Bunch is a bulldog on defense especially on ball. Bunch has high level basketball IQ and court sense as well as play both guard spots.
Rodriguez, who had played with the WVBC previously, had switched uni’s to boost numbers on the MOV Elite squad and was on the floor Sunday (10/29). For the MOV Elite squad he continued to create opportunities for teammates as well as find his way into the scorebook finishing drives and pulling up at midrange.
