THE FAVORITE – Onalaska
Although reigning first-team All-Conference guard T.J. Stuttley has moved on to Link Academy, Onlaska remains the favorite in the Mississippi Valley Conference. Coming off a 19-6 campaign, the Hilltoppers likely have a bad taste in their mouths after being upset in regional play by rival La Crosse Central. Seniors Evan Anderson (18.8 ppg) and Isaac Skemp Isaac Skemp 6'4" | SF Onalaska | 2024 State WI (8.8 ppg) give Onalaska arguably two of the best four players in the league.
DARK HORSE – La Crosse Central
The Red Raiders have been a staple in the state tournament in recent memory. Since 2015-16, Central has essentially reached Madison in every season but one, including the COVID year in which they qualified, but there was no state tournament. The Red Raiders have also earned at least a share of the conference title in every single season during that span. Things will be a lot harder this year as Central takes a hit personnel-wise. It’ll be up to senior guard Henry Meyer Henry Meyer 6'3" | SG La Crosse Central | 2024 State WI (16.0 ppg) to keep that run going and lead an inexperienced team.
