A strong guard with a really quick first step. Finishes at the rim through contact. Has an excellent handle and great court vision. Really good in transition. He can create contact and use his strength to score.
Excellent in transition. Very creative scorer who has a knack to convert the old school three point play. Can knock down threes from beyond the arc. Showed the athleticism and defensive instincts to get his hands into passing lanes.
Liverpool might not be well known downstate, but upstate they are a legitimate contender for a state title every year. Shontez along with Andreo Ash Andreo Ash 6’8″ | SG Liverpool | 2024 State #161 Nation NY and Bruce Wingate are a big reason why. Shontez is extremely athletic. Runs the floor with a purpose. Finishes around the rim with strength or craft finesse. Knock down shooter from mid range. Uses his athleticism to defend at a high level.
Highlights
A smooth athletic player. Had a great showing at the CHSAA team camp in a June. Showed the ability to get to the rim off of 2-3 dribbles. Has a quick release jumper off the bounce. A savvy rebounder able to read the ball off the rim get himself in position and uses his leaping ability to snag rebounds. Showed good defensive instincts especially in help defense in the paint.
Another player who had a coming out party at the CHSAA event. He had many coaches talking. Elite athletic ability. He uses his size to clear space inside and rebound the ball with tenacity and strength. Likes to mix it up inside, an old school banger. Demands the ball by getting position and then scores it around the rim. Also showed major improvement as he was nailing inside 17 foot open jumpers. A player to watch this coming season.
