Chris Artis (Sikeston): A 6’2″ shooting guard from the SEMO area who was an excellent slashing threat who was slithering into the lane to get buckets on a regular basis. He has good length to go along with his speed and quickness. He also passes the ball well and he was hitting open 3-pointers. He also defends well and he can rebound from the guard position very effectively.
Ryan Clemons (Homewood-Flossmoor): A 6’2″ guard from the Suburban Chicago area who was an excellent all-purpose player at the combine. He was impacting the game at both ends of the court with his athleticism, length and very active motor. He was snatching rebounds and getting steals in the passing lanes, and he added a few nice chase-down blocks in transition. He also did a good job on the offensive end with swooping layups and slashing drives.
Jared Staple Jr. (Marion, IL): A young combo guard from Southern Illinois who was one of the most impressive perimeter shooters that we watched at the showcase. He was hitting shots from well beyond the 3-point line off the catch, but he also did an excellent job of attacking close outs to score on layups and pull up jumpers. His passing game was also on point as he dropped some very nice dimes while on the move.
Mason Tucker (Farmington): A 6’2″ wing player from Farmington (MO) High who displayed his athleticism as a contestant in the slam dunk competition. He had some nice finishes on the drive, whether it was on the straight line or when he went to the reverse to avoid shot blockers. He also had a very effective pull up jumper in the mid range area.
Valor Kamolafe (Springfield Lanphier): A 6’4″ power forward from Central Illinois who played a tough, physical game around the basket. He had some very effective post-up moves in the lane and he could also get to the basket with the bull-moose power drive in the lane. He operated well off of two feet inside and he had a nice shooting touch. His turnaround jumper in the lane was feathery.
Kevin Salimtoua (Springfield Lanphier): A shooting guard from Central Illinois who probably made more transition 3-pointers than anybody that we watched at the showcase. He ran the court well and got himself in good position to shoot the triple with a quick release. In the half court offense, he could also create well off the dribble and hit the mid-range jumper.
