This article will be about the 2A KingCo Conference MVP and first team selections.
MVP: Dennis Johnson III Dennis Johnson III 6'2" | CG Renton | 2025 State WA (2025) – Renton HS
Dennis was very impressive last season as a sophomore and I believe will take a big jump on the court next season. He is a natural bucket getter and is one of the top scorers within the 2025 class. He attacks downhill at a high rate and is able to finish through contact well in the paint. He is crafty with the ball and creates well for himself and his teammates. He’s my bold prediction to take the league MVP this season.
Other MVP Candidates: Ronnie Toms Ronnie Toms 6'0" | SG Renton | 2024 State WA (2024) – Renton HS , Keith Kariuki Keith Kariuki 6'4" | SG Sammamish | 2024 State WA (2024) – Samammish HS
First Team Predictions:
Dennis Johnson III Dennis Johnson III 6'2" | CG Renton | 2025 State WA (2025) – Renton HS – see above.
Ronnie Toms Ronnie Toms 6'0" | SG Renton | 2024 State WA (2024) – Renton HS – Ronnie is a player who contributes well on both sides of the ball, bringing the energy to the defensive end and the offensive end. He can guard anyone in the league and is, in my eyes, the best defender in the league as well. Toms hits the three at a high percentage as well, keeping defenders on their toes.
Anthony Williams Anthony Williams 6'4" | SG Chief Sealth | 2025 State WA (2025) – Highline HS – Anthony’s game has been evolving in a big time way. He stands at around 6’3″ so he brings a lot of length to the court. He’s strong in the paint, being able to go through contact to finish at the rim. Williams does a great job at playing off 2 feet inside the paint and playing under control, making few mistakes.
Keith Kariuki Keith Kariuki 6'4" | SG Sammamish | 2024 State WA (2024) – Samammish HS – Keith is a 6’4″ wing who plays very tough defense and is able to guard multiple positions on the court. He has long arms that help him poke out the ball or get involved in passing lanes. He is aggressive in the paint, going for rebounds nearly every possession. He’s a player who I think will take a big jump and improve a lot on the court.
Barry Morrisette Barry Morrisette 6'7" | PF Sammamish | 2025 State WA (2025) – Samammish HS – Barry has great size and length on the court, standing at around 6’7″. He is a tough player to match-up against. He has a solid foundation and can finish at the rim with ease. Morrisette is still developing post moves down low in the paint but after he does and his footwork improves, he will be a top big in the 2025 class.
