Throughout the next couple of days, Andrew Johnson and myself will recap of who stood out from the event and providing analysis on every prospect who attended the camp. This article features the top players who stood out for Team 3:
Deiontaye Grant, A 6-4 senior combo guard played under control and wasn’t phased by pressure when he had the basketball in his hands. Grant is a pure decision-maker when it comes to shooting versus passing the basketball and has a knack for attacking smaller defenders. Grant showed great poise when it came to shooting from the perimeter as he displayed a ton of confidence from Game 1.
Xavier Kirkpatrick
Xavier Kirkpatrick
Xavier Kirkpatrick, A 6-2 junior guard was smooth and played a nice all-around game on Saturday sharing the basketball and getting his teammates involved. Kirkpatrick has a solid jump shot where he can score off the bounce as well as off the catch that he knocked down consistently. On the defensive end, he showed a lot of pressure while guarding out on the perimeter being active in the passing lanes forcing turnovers and bad passes.
Maliq Sosa
Maliq Sosa
Maliq Sosa, A 6-5 junior combo guard is a crafty scorer and it showed on full display on Saturday where he can score on all three levels on the offensive end. On the defensive end, Sosa plays with length and a ton of versatility where he can guard multiple positions. He is very wiry and athletic when it came to crashing the boards and was quick to kick the basketball ahead in transition. Look for Sosa to have a big junior season where college coaches will start peaking their interest in him.
Era Medina
Era Medina
Era Medina, A 6-4 sophomore combo guard was one of the best two-way prospects on display at the Top 250 Expo. Medina continued to impress with his ability to score off the catch as well as off the bounce. He moved exceptionally well without the basketball in his hands as well creating space for his teammates to operate. On the defensive end, Medina guarded on and off the ball at a high level where he created a lot of energy with his pure athleticism on the glass.
