We got a chance to see every team compete at least one time and quite a few guys caught our attention. Here’s a look at some of the players that impressed us with their ability and effort on the defensive end.
Peyton Reyes Peyton Reyes 5'9" | PG Mountainside | 2025 State OR (2025 Mountainside) – One thing you can always count on is Reyes playing at full throttle and he was all over the court on Sunday. Defensively he applied pressure in both full-court and half-court situations, helping generate turnovers and converting them into layups on the other end.
Carlos Rodriguez Carlos Rodriguez 6'3" | CG Jefferson | 2024 State OR (2024 Jefferson) – Another high-energy guy was Rodriguez who often times found himself matched up against every type of player from point guards to posts. He sufficiently held his own against anyone and used his athleticism to reject a number of shot attempts.
Kellen Kinder Kellen Kinder 6'7" | C Valley Catholic | 2024 State OR (2024 Valley Catholic) – Kinder was one of the taller and longer guys at the camp at 6-foot-8 and used that to his advantage on the defensive end. He successfully protected the paint with his shot-blocking ability and ability to alter shots.
Warren Stanton Warren Stanton 6'4" | SF West Linn | 2025 State OR (2025 West Linn) – With his length and athleticism at 6-foot-4, Stanton was a lockdown defender on the defensive end. The West Linn junior successfully guarded multiple positions and racked up both blocked shots and steals as a result.
Steven Adams Steven Adams 5'11" | CG McNary | 2025 State OR (2025 McNary) – Adams probably had the quickest hands we saw all day. He was constantly all over guards bringing the ball up the court and his aforementioned quick hands often led to deflections and outright steals. Add in a high motor and he was an outright pest to deal with.
Jonas Spencer Jonas Spencer 6'5" | CG North Eugene | 2024 State OR (2024 North Eugene) – Versatility is the name of the game when it comes to quality defense and Spencer brought that to the table. The North Eugene senior used his size and all-around ability to guard players big and small and was effective all day long.
Justin Han Justin Han 6'1" | SG Valley Catholic | 2025 State OR (2025 Valley Catholic) – Defense is often measured by raw stats such as blocks or steals, but just because you don’t rack up those numbers doesn’t mean you can’t still be a stellar defender. That was the case with Han who did a remarkable job of stopping guys getting to where they wanted to go with his stick ’em on-the-ball D.
