Throughout the day there were a handful of players that went crazy on Court 3, showing off what they could do out on the floor at a high and efficient rate, eventually winning their the contest in end. Below I will be highlighting 5 players that stood out to me the most throughout the day on that court.
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
#511 – Kanyon Bryte Kanyon Bryte 6'8" | C Western Dubuque | 2024 State IA – 2024 – 6’7 – Forward – Western Dubuque High School
Talk about a kid with a Bryte future, look no further than Kanyon Bryte Kanyon Bryte 6'8" | C Western Dubuque | 2024 State IA . This man was easily a Top 5 player on Court 3 all day at this Expo. Bryte is 6’7 and uses all that length to dominate his matchups. He is skilled enough to spread out the defense, outside of the lane with his shooting ability or he can post up basically anyone who comes across his way with the reach that he possesses. This winter is going to be a big one for Bryte and I think he is going to flourish. He is very talented skill-wise, he is more athletic than most, and he is naturally tall. Three things that are a recipe for success on the basketball court.
#448 – Tre’Von Coney – 2024 – 6’2 – PG – Bettendorf High School
I am not going to lie, when we started playing the game with Tre’Von Coney on my team, it didn’t start well but it only took about 5 minutes until Coney and everyone else showed me that they can really hoop well as one-single unit. Coney was out there giving out nasty assist, after nasty assist. He was running the floor, creating for others in every way, and hitting his target with his passing. When the team started to sag off of Coney, anticipating the pass, he would step up and knock down a big shot over a defender. This made the defense step back-up once again and play honest defense throughout the entire contest. Coney was definitely the best passer that I coached out there on Sunday on Court 3, no doubt in my mind.
#492 – Jaidyn Coon Jaidyn Coon 6'6" | SF Storm Lake | 2026 State IA – 2026 – 6’5 – CG – Storm Lake High School
Jaidyn Coon Jaidyn Coon 6'6" | SF Storm Lake | 2026 State IA is special. He is athletic, smooth, and skilled with the ball in his hands. In every game that I have ever seen Coon play in, he has been the best player. HANDS DOWN. On Sunday, Coon was scoring from all three levels in a hurry, creating turnovers and steals with his actives hands, rebounding over EVERYONE that stood in his way, and was being a good teammate when it was called for the most, without me having to step-in and say anything. I know pure talent when I see it and Coon has it. I’m not sure what his college offers are like yet but if you are a coach out here in Iowa, I would take a look right here. This kid is a winner and you can tell that by how he holds himself around others on the floor.
#504 – Jaydon Kimbrough Jaydon Kimbrough 6'1" | PG Cedar Falls | 2026 State IA – 2026 – 6’1 – SG – Cedar Falls High School
Jaydon Kimbrough Jaydon Kimbrough 6'1" | PG Cedar Falls | 2026 State IA was the best shooter in the gym on Sunday in my opinion. In this game there are players that simply know how shoot and there are players that learn how to shoot as they get older, you can tell that Kimbrough simply knows how to shoot from watching him compete for about 2 minutes out there. There aren’t many other kids that I would take in shooting contest against Kimbrough, from any distance. His shooting stroke is pure and balanced every time he lets it go. It’s really picture perfect and I hope I get to see it this season on the varsity floor.
#438 – Caeden Terrell Caeden Terrell 6'1" United Township | 2024 IA – 2024 – 6’1 – PG/SG – United Township High School
A well rounded prospect that is very skilled with the basketball is Caden Terrell. Terrell came over from Illinois to compete in this event and he definitely stood out. Terrell is skinny and lengthy but extremely athletic. He can get up higher than most kids on his jump and is very good when bigger players try to get physical with him near the paint. Terrell is my definition of a player, who could turn into a very efficient PG or SG at the college level, after his high school career comes to a close. He is smart enough and naturally gifted, something that is pretty easy to see here.
