I’m curious to see Eskildsen, a 6-4 do-it-all wing, compete against competition from bigger schools here. He stuffed the stat sheet last season for the Vikings, averaging 14.8 points, 9.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.2 steals, and 1.4 blocks, showing the ability to do a little bit of everything, and I’m looking forward to seeing if he’s able to impact the game in a multitude of ways against bigger, more athletic players than he plays against throughout the season.
Ian Samples Ian Samples 6'7" | PF Waukee | 2025 State IA | PF | Waukee
A skilled 6-7 forward who can really pass it, Samples is a bit of a point-forward who is capable of creating plays for his teammates with his excellent court vision. He can score around the bucket with either hand as well as occasionally step out and knock down jumpers. But his passing and court vision is his biggest attribute, and where I’m expecting him to shine.
Camryn Lemoine Camryn Lemoine 6'0" | PG Pleasant Valley | 2025 State IA | SG | Pleasant Valley
A tough, scrappy guard who defends really well on the ball, LeMoine is a typical PV guard who will really get after you on that end of the floor and put constant pressure on you on the offensive end with his ability to put the ball on the floor, absorb contact, and get to the bucket. I’m looking forward to seeing him operate as a playmaker with the ball in his hands, as well as his work as an on-ball defender.
Cael Reichter Cael Reichter 6'7" | PF North Fayette Valley | 2025 State IA | PF | North Fayette Valley
A 6-6 big man who runs the floor hard and controls the glass on both ends of the floor, Reichter is another one, like Eskildsen, who I’m curious to see how they adjust to bigger, more athletic bodies to contend with. He’s a mobile forward who can protect the paint and finish around the rim.
Spencer Roeder Spencer Roeder 6'5" | PF Maquette Catholic | 2025 State IA | PF | Marquette Catholic
Sensing a theme with these small-school forwards that I’m looking forward to seeing? Roeder was really good for the Mohawks last season, averaging 12.9 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists a game while showcasing a silky stroke out to the arc (48.3 3P%). His ability to stretch the floor at 6-6/6-7 will make him an interesting player to keep an eye on.
