Big men can sometimes be overshadowed in these types of events, but Bryte has a skill set that should make him stand out, as he’s able to stretch the floor and protect the paint at a high level. I’m looking forward to seeing how his footwork and touch on post touches has continued to progress, and how he performs as a rebounder and team defender. He has a chance to really catch the eyes of some college coaches in this setting with a strong defensive performance.
Tyler Hinz Tyler Hinz 5'10" | PG Maquoketa | 2024 State IA | PG | Maquoketa
Hinz is a quick-twitch athlete who can play with or without the ball in his hands, and he’ll have a chance to showcase both skill sets this weekend. He’s a sharpshooter (42.1 3P%) with a quick release off the catch, but he’s also a skilled playmaker who dished out 3.2 assists a game last season for the Cardinals. He can score from all three levels, he uses his speed to his advantage on the defensive end, and he isn’t afraid to compete on the glass despite being one of the smaller players on the floor.
Nathan Stroud Nathan Stroud 6'5" | PF Mount Pleasant | 2024 State IA | PF | Mount Pleasant
Stroud had a pretty good summer with Iowa Prep , showing the ability to occasionally step out and knock down jumpers, score around the bucket efficiently, and control the paint as a defender. Like Bryte, he’ll probably need to provide value as a defender in this setting and take advantage of his opportunities when they present themselves on the offensive end. He has good length and solid size at 6-6, and could be a solid stretch-4 at a small school.
Marty Blakey Marty Blakey 6'5" | SF Kennedy | 2024 State IA | SF | Kennedy
A fantastic athlete who can thrive at an event like this, which is generally a bit more up-tempo, Blakey led Jefferson in scoring last season before transferring to Kennedy for his senior season, where he’ll give the Cougars a bouncy wing who can get to the bucket and defend multiple positions.
Tre’von Coney Tre’von Coney 6'2" | SG Bettendorf | 2024 State IA | SG | Bettendorf
Coney might be the best pure scorer in the gym on Sunday night, a long and athletic 6-3 wing who can get to the rim at a high clip. He has a strong mid-range game and his 3-point stroke is enough of a threat that it needs to be respected, but still needs to become more consistent. I know he can score, but I want to see what he’s able to do as a playmaker, an area of the game that he may need to do more of this season following his transfer to Bettendorf.
