SAN DIEGO — Last weekend's Creme of the County showcase gave us an in depth look at the classes of 2024, 2025, 2026, 2027 and 2028 in the San Diego area. Fellow Prep Hoops writer, and basketball savant, Aaron Burgin, put on his annual event at St. Augustine high school last Saturday. Here's who stood out in the 2027 Creme game.

Drew Parker, St. Augustine

Parker was one of the more intriguing wing/forwards in the event. The long, wiry 6-foot-3 prospect was both a smooth and explosive athlete with coordination and ball skills to go along with his measureables and athletic gifts. Parker thrived in transition offense where his willingness to fill the lane and slash to the rim was his go-to scoring attribute.

Jasen Hughes, Mount Miguel

Hughes is a strong and skilled low block player whose feel with his back to the basket was one of the more impressive parts of his game. The strong-shouldered 6-foot-3 forward was dominant when he got a touch in the paint largely because defenders either weren't strong enough to compete with him or struggled to contain his post moves. Hughes flashed great hands and soft touch around the basket.

Jeremiah Profit, Temecula Valley

Profit was the highest upside guy in this event regardless of class. The 6-foot-4 wing has all the tools you look for in a prospect who is trending as a Division 1 level player early on. He has dribble, pass and shoot ability along with great feel for the game and an inherent unselfishness that makes him a great playmaker. The pop of athleticism off the floor is an added bonus to a well-rounded prospect.

Justin Johnson, El Camino

Johnson was one of the bigger surprises of this event. His move into the San Diego area from Arizona earned him a late invitation and he definitely made the most of it. The 6-foot-4 wing was the most athletically gifted prospect in the gym on the day and his ability to elevate and bounce off the floor when he runs is something that runs in the family: his brother is former University of Arizona standout Nick Johnson and his father was a high flying wing at Banning high school in Carson. Family ties aside, Justin Johnson shot the ball well from three-point range and showed off plenty of that leaping ability.

Kannon Seals, Mater Dei Catholic

Seals was one of the smallest players in the gym in any game last weekend but his game really stood out because of his feel, poise and basketball IQ. The 5-foot-3 point guard was a dynamic set up guy for teammates and really allowed the ball to move while not over-dribbling. Seals played with good pace and unselfishness to his game.

Tristan Anderson, Olympian

Anderson proved difficult for defenders to keep in front because of his combination of speed and shiftiness. The 5-foot-6 point guard broke down his defender in isolation with ease and got paint touches at any point in the offense. Anderson showed really good feel as a creator for teammates.
