SAN DIEGO — Last weekend's Creme of the County showcase gave us an in depth look at the classes of 2024, 2025, 2026, 2027 and 2028 in the San Diego area. Fellow Prep Hoops writer, and basketball savant, Aaron Burgin, put on his annual event at St. Augustine high school last Saturday. Here's who stood out in the 2026 Select game.

Christopher Crowell, San Marcos

Crowell has all the size, athletic tools and dexterity to be a good high school guard and high upside prospect in the long-term. The 6-foot-2 rising sophomore was a menace on the defensive end where he used his length to disrupt passing lanes and create transition scoring opportunities.

[player_tooltip player_id='2131795' first='Dash' last='Ekeroth'], Maranatha Christian

Ekeroth was one of the best shooters in the gym on the weekend. The 6-foot combo guard showed consistent and deep range both off the catch and off the dribble and his fundamental shooting mechanics along with his quick release made him a guy who was difficult to close out to.

Diego Ortiz, Mira Mesa

Ortiz himself showed off a nice perimeter shooting stroke but also doubled as a playmaker for himself and teammates off the dribble. The 5-foot-9 point guard operated with good pace and feel and used his change of speeds to get into the lane and vision to kick to open teammates.

Lawrence Lam, Westview

Lam has a very intriguing frame with size and length at 6-feet-3 but its the smoothness in which he plays with that allowed him to stand out in this game. Lam played with an effortless feel, got to his spots when needed and flashed a smooth pull-up jumper off the dribble.
