Holland is arguably the best player in the state of New Mexico, racking up 11 Division 1 offers so far and placing 89th in the ESPN 100 national rankings for the Class of 2025. He also earned 5A District 5 Player of the Year and led the Tigers to the semifinals of the 5A playoffs. Holland has filled out his 6’5″ frame and is able to punish defenders from anywhere on the court, as well as use his vertical ability to dunk on taller defenders. Holland will continue to be the face of New Mexico basketball for the rest of his high school career, and will continue to garner more and more Division 1 interest.
Latavious Morris Latavious Morris 5'8" | PG Atrisco Heritage | 2025 State NM – Atrisco Heritage
Morris has been a staple player in New Mexico since elementary school, and has now put his name on the map nationally. He’s a shifty combo guard who can score from all three levels, using his quick twitch agility to blow past any defender. Morris is also a ridiculous athlete with the ability to play much larger than his size, and finishes around the basket with ease. Morris only holds 1 college offer to my knowledge, but he will no doubt continue to make a name for himself as his high school career continues, and will be the ringleader for the Jaguars going into next season.
Hudson Brown Hudson Brown 5'9" | PG Volcano Vista | 2025 State NM – Volcano Vista
Brown is arguably the best perimeter defender in the state of New Mexico, coming off a season where he earned 5A Defensive Player of the Year honors and won a state title with Volcano Vista. He’s very efficient on both sides of the ball, as he is a near-automatic three-point shooter on the offensive end, as well as a shutdown one-on-one defender. Brown is easily one of the most consistent players with the motor to play at the same high level the entire game. The makeup of this hawks team will be very different going into next season, but with Brown at the helm, they’ll no doubt be contenders again.
Lenny Washington Lenny Washington 6'4" | SG Organ Mountain | 2025 State NM – Organ Mountain
Washington is the perfect archetype for a shooting guard. At 6’4″ he is able to use his height to challenge players at the rim, and he utilizes his freak athleticism to finish around the basket. Washington has also been able to evolve his perimeter game and has developed a consistent jump-shot that he uses whenever defenders play off of him. Washington missed all of last season with an ACL injury, but joins an Organ Mountain team coming off a 5A semifinals appearance who brings back some key players from their playoff run. He’ll fit right in with this squad and will make them once again contenders in 5A.
Jesus Licon Jesus Licon 6'0" | CG Highland | 2025 State NM – Highland
Licon is one of the best shot-creators and pure shot-makers in the state regardless of class. His bulky frame allows him to bully players off the dribble and his quick release allows him to get his shot off at anytime. Licon also has sneaky good ball-handling ability and can run the point guard position if needed. Him and teammate Raul Stanford Raul Stanford 5'10" | CG Highland | 2024 State NM make for possibly the best defensive backcourt in 4A, as Licon uses his agility and strength to keep guards out of the paint. Highland will be one of the favorites to win 4A next season, and Licon will be a favorite for 4A Player of the Year.
