Continue ReadingFor the last few years, our Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase has done a great job of getting the majority of the best incoming freshmen in the state under one roof. However, it is impossible to always get all of the best players due to scheduling conflicts and other obligations. For example, a couple of Indiana’s top prospects were out at the CP3 Rising Stars National Camp. Over the last week to 10 days our staff has highlighted all of the nearly 200 prospects that were in attendance with individual evaluations. Now, let’s take a look at three of the top prospects in the state that were unable to attend our event for one reason or another.

Jaylan Mitchell
Jaylan Mitchell
The most well known incoming freshman to the state of Indiana, Mitchell has already solidified himself as not just the top prospect in the state, but one of the best in the entire country. He is a versatile 6’7″ wing that can score on the perimeter like a guard while also dominating around the rim with size and strength well beyond his age. Mitchell was excellent throughout the summer on the EYBL circuit playing up a year with Brad Beal Elite and has been showing up as a Top 5 prospect nationally by some rankings services. Expect to hear his name a lot from day one at Evansville Reitz.

Lampley III will be one of the top prospects in Indiana’s Class of 2027. During our Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman showcase the versatile 6’6″ wing was out at the CP3 Rising Stars Camp where he earned a selection to the Top 20 All-Star game. Similar to Mitchell, his size and strength are what stands out right away and allows him to dominate a lot of players at his age. He is going to make an instant impact this winter for Tindley and should be a household name around the state sooner rather than later.

Isaiah Hill
Isaiah Hill
One of my favorite players in the 2027 class to watch this summer, Hill burst onto the scene between the Charlie Hughes Showcase and Grand Park League with his contributions at the varsity level for Pike High School. Anytime you come across a 6’9″ player at this age you are going to be intrigued. However, Hill also has some raw skill on both ends of the floor that allows him to be effective. He flashes some good hands around the rim offensively and some good timing on the defensive end to block shots and protect the rim.
