On Sunday afternoon and evening at Fishers High School nearly 200 of the states best Class of 2027 prospects came to display their skills in front of many of the most influential people in Indiana High School Basketball. This event is the premier way to get “on the radar” prior to your high school career. Over the next week or so it will become clear why we always say “nobody does content and event coverage like Prep Hoops Indiana.” With that said, here are the player evaluations from Team 2 of the 2023 Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase.
***With nearly 200 prospects at our event, our scouting staff (of three people) divided up the 20 teams to ensure that we could get evaluations of every player. However, as you can imagine, this is not the easiest task. Our staff watched each team they were assigned to for a minimum of one full game. There were some late player additions and walk-ups that threw a wrench into some rosters as well. So, if you notice that a name is wrong and/or a player is missing an evaluation please reach out to Brandon Ramsey at coachbrandonramsey@gmail.com or reach out via DM on Twitter @BRamseyKSR and I will resolve any issues. Thanks for your understanding and for participating in the 2023 Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase!***
Elhadji Mboup
Elhadji Mboup
This Avon High School product is a smaller point guard that proved that he was unafraid to drive it hard to the basket and play amongst taller defenders. Mboup is a pure point guard that will initiate offense for his teammates, showcased a tight handle against pressure, and can make plays when he gets a piece of the paint. As he continues to develop physically and get taller it will allow some of his raw skills to shine through.
Adam Foster
Adam Foster
Foster quickly proved himself as one of the more impressive pure shooters at Sunday’s Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. He knocked in a pair of three-point shots in his very first rotation and went on to shoot it in throughout the event. The 6’0″ guard from Benton Central High School has a quick release, good footwork when moving off of the ball into his shot, and displayed deep range as well. There is always a need for a catch-and-shoot threat like Foster.
Rayvon Martin
Rayvon Martin
One of the 10 Avon High School freshmen to attend our Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase on Sunday, Martin was one of the more physically impressive among the bunch. The 6’1″ wing has a strong build that allowed him to get some things done around the basket even against bigger defenders. In one game he caught the ball on the block and made a nice, patient post move to score a bucket. However, Martin also showed his ability to shoot from beyond the arc.
Hayden Johns
Hayden Johns
This left-handed wing from West Central High School impressed with his willingness to crash the glass on the offensive end of the floor. That determination and motor from the 6’0″ prospect is what stood out early as he tracked down a tough rebound and finished the putback. Johns then later knocked in a catch-and-shoot three-point shot to showcase his perimeter skill as well. It was a solid showing overall for him at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase.
James Hughes
James Hughes
Hughes showcased a pretty high skill level as a playmaking point guard at Sunday’s Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. The 5’11” creator did a little bit of everything in the backcourt. He weaved his way through the defense in transition for a layup, connected on a top of the key three-point shot off of the dribble, and had a smooth left-handed finish when attacking the basket off of a ballscreen. He also had a beautiful pass to the roll man in another ballscreen situation. Skilled lead guard from Batesville High School.
Jayvon Cheshier
Jayvon Cheshier
Cheshier has impressive length on the perimeter for a 5’11” guard and used it to play in the passing lanes some and cause some overall defensive disruption. On the offensive end, the Noblesville High School product showed some real confidence from beyond the arc. He knocked in a nice catch-and-shoot corner three after running to his spot in transition. His footwork was clean and the release was quick.

Jackson Kirk Jackson Kirk 6'0" | PG Noblesville | 2027 IN
We’ve already talked about this prospect a little bit in our GameChangers article as he was one of the more impressive guards at Sunday’s event. Kirk is a talented playmaker that showcased a tight handle, the ability to play through contact off of the dribble, and pretty high level court vision as well. The 5’11” Noblesville product got a lot done offensively running the show for his team creating scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates consistently. One of the better guards at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase.
Houston Crick
Houston Crick
A 6’4″ forward with plus length and some bounciness around the basket, Crick impressed with his motor, rebounding ability, and how he contributed without necessarily always having the ball in his hands. The New Albany prospect was impactful as a screener and rebounder, but also had a nice straight line drive against a closeout that he finished with his right hand at the rim. Overall, Crick showed some long-term potential at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase.
Cooper Lewis
Cooper Lewis
At 5’9″, Lewis is obviously a smaller point guard, but he was unafraid to drive the ball into the paint and consistently attacked off of the dribble. He did a good job of initiating offense, taking care of the ball, and facilitating to his open teammates. The Christian Academy product proved at Sunday’s Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase that he has some potential as he continues to develop physically.
