On Sunday afternoon and evening at Fishers High School nearly 200 of the states best Class of 2027 prospects came to display their skills in front of many of the most influential people in Indiana High School Basketball. This event is the premier way to get “on the radar” prior to your high school career. Over the next week or so it will become clear why we always say “nobody does content and event coverage like Prep Hoops Indiana.” With that said, here are the player evaluations from Team 5 of the 2023 Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase.
***With nearly 200 prospects at our event, our scouting staff (of three people) divided up the 20 teams to ensure that we could get evaluations of every player. However, as you can imagine, this is not the easiest task. Our staff watched each team they were assigned to for a minimum of one full game. There were some late player additions and walk-ups that threw a wrench into some rosters as well. So, if you notice that a name is wrong and/or a player is missing an evaluation please reach out to Brandon Ramsey at coachbrandonramsey@gmail.com or reach out via DM on Twitter @BRamseyKSR and I will resolve any issues. Thanks for your understanding and for participating in the 2023 Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase!***
Nash Sigmund (Decatur Central):
Sigmund was the first player that really stood out to me at the Freshman Showcase. He is not the biggest guard but he was a lights out shooter with a quick trigger. Showed a real high motor and an extremely high IQ on both ends of the floor. Guard that is willing to rebound too.
Robert Montgomery III (Avon):
Montgomery III is a super small guard at this point in time. He did make some sharp passes and was a little crafty around the rim. As a guard that will likely be on the ball long-term, his handles do need a little bit of tightening up.
Jeremiah Cunningham (Merrillville):
Cunningham was one of the smaller guards in the gym on Sunday. Played mostly on the ball but would often get into too big of hurry at times so needs to work on playing more under control. Needs to work on strength as well.
Terrance Jordan Jr. (Southside):
Jordan Jr. was another shorter guard that played at the Freshman Showcase. Hopefully a growth spurt is in his near future but did like how hard he played.
Benjamin Wynkoop (Peru):
Wynkoop was one of the hardest working players on the floor for Team 5 in my opinion. Size does limit what he can do on the floor but he did have a tough mindset in the game I watched of his.
Brayden Hoover (Triton Central):
Hoover was a tough player that loved to play physical when he could. On the defensive end, he worked really hard and took pride in locking the offense up. Had a strong first step on his drives too, just needs to work on finishing.
Justin Skinner (Westside Leadership Academy):
Skinner is a lanky wing that really lit it up from deep. Really good at working off the ball and looked ready to always shoot. Smoothness to his game right now and good upside as a catch-and-shoot wing.
Tyler Angerer (Indianapolis Lutheran):
Angerer was arguably the most aggressive player on Team 5. Cut really hard off the ball and was able to knock down a couple of threes off the catch. Fun to watch at times.
