On Sunday afternoon and evening at Fishers High School nearly 200 of the states best Class of 2027 prospects came to display their skills in front of many of the most influential people in Indiana High School Basketball. This event is the premier way to get “on the radar” prior to your high school career. Over the next week or so it will become clear why we always say “nobody does content and event coverage like Prep Hoops Indiana.” With that said, here are the player evaluations from Team 3 of the 2023 Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase.
***With nearly 200 prospects at our event, our scouting staff (of three people) divided up the 20 teams to ensure that we could get evaluations of every player. However, as you can imagine, this is not the easiest task. Our staff watched each team they were assigned to for a minimum of one full game. There were some late player additions and walk-ups that threw a wrench into some rosters as well. So, if you notice that a name is wrong and/or a player is missing an evaluation please reach out to Brandon Ramsey at coachbrandonramsey@gmail.com or reach out via DM on Twitter @BRamseyKSR and he will resolve any issues. Thanks for your understanding and for participating in the 2023 Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase!***
#29 – Justin Rambus Justin Rambus 6'0" | SG Washington | 2027 IN – 6’0” SF – Washington
- Rambus is a 6’0 wing who played well on Sunday. He struggled with shot selection at times, but you could tell he was looking to attack and get his shot. He definitely has the potential to grow in the coming years.
#95 – Gabriel Overton Gabriel Overton 5'8" | PG Winchester | 2027 IN – 5’8” PG – Winchester Community
- Overton was one of the best point guards that I saw this weekend as he was able to show his skill in all facets of the game. He was a good defender and used his quick hands to come over with several steals. On the offensive end of the floor, he has great vision and always has his eyes up. He showed some good touch around the rim with the finger roll, and he even knocked down a couple of threes.
#112 – Hayden Rogers Hayden Rogers 5'8" | PG Guerin Catholic | 2027 IN – 5’8” SG – Guerin Catholic
- Rogers is a smaller shooting guard with room to grow in the coming years. He showed that he could get to the rim off the dribble, and his touch on the floater was very good. He played some good minutes all day long and really helped his team.
#607 – King Cloma King Cloma 6'1" | SG Gary West Side | 2027 IN – 6’1” SG – Gary West
- Cloma is a shooter with good size, and he showed good ability on the offensive end of the floor. He used his quickness to beat the defense down the floor. He also showed great touch with the finger roll and the ability to know it down from deep. I like the potential that his game has.
#620 – Jaxon McKain – 6’1” SF – Boonville
- McKain is a big wing who works hard all over the court. He attacked the glass with authority on both ends, and he seemed to always force his way to the rim on the offensive end. He has a score-first mentality, but he did make some nice passes to set up his teammates.
#650 – Carter Crum Carter Crum 6'4" | PF Parke Heritage | 2027 IN – 6’2” PF – Parke Heritage
- Crum was one of my favorite players of the showcase as he was making plays all over the court. The wing worked hard in the paint all day long, and he seemed to finish everything. He was a force inside on the glass as well, and he seemed to outwork everybody. His work ethic gives him a lot of potential going forward.
#758 – Gage Clark Gage Clark 5'11" | PG Perry Central | 2027 IN – 5’11” SG – Perry Central
- Clark is a guard who was on the attack all day long. He looked to get to the rim, and he showed some good touch around the rim. He had a couple of nice finger rolls around the bigger post defenders inside.
#872 – Zaevion Sanders Zaevion Sanders 5'10" | SF Richmond | 2027 IN – 5’10” SG – Richmond ‘ last=”]
- Sanders was active and aggressive on the offensive end all day, and he used his quickness to get to the hole. Once he got to the hole, he showed nice strength with the ball and good finishing ability. I was also very impressed with his smooth step-back jumper. He is yet another young skilled player for Richmond ‘ last=”].
#892 – Josiah Brown Josiah Brown 5'9" | SG Portage | 2027 IN – 5’9” PG – Portage
- Brown is a smaller lead guard who showed quickness and court vision. He set up his teammates well and made some nice passes. He didn’t show much on the scoring side, but he still helped his team in many other ways.
