On Sunday afternoon and evening at Fishers High School nearly 200 of the states best Class of 2027 prospects came to display their skills in front of many of the most influential people in Indiana High School Basketball. This event is the premier way to get “on the radar” prior to your high school career. Over the next week or so it will become clear why we always say “nobody does content and event coverage like Prep Hoops Indiana.” With that said, here are the player evaluations from Team 18 of the 2023 Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase.
***With nearly 200 prospects at our event, our scouting staff (of three people) divided up the 20 teams to ensure that we could get evaluations of every player. However, as you can imagine, this is not the easiest task. Our staff watched each team they were assigned to for a minimum of one full game. There were some late player additions and walk-ups that threw a wrench into some rosters as well. So, if you notice that a name is wrong and/or a player is missing an evaluation please reach out to Brandon Ramsey at coachbrandonramsey@gmail.com or reach out via DM on Twitter @BRamseyKSR and I will resolve any issues. Thanks for your understanding and for participating in the 2023 Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase!***
William Knight IV (Riverdale):
Knight is a quick guard that likes to attack. Was real good about utilizing his quickness to slip through the defense on the attacks he would try toward the basket.
Jace Speybroeck (Penn):
Even though he is on the shorter end, Speybroeck played like a true lead guard. Displayed some real solid handles and was his best on the ball.
Reese Litherland (Perry Central):
Litherland is on the shorter end right now but was extremely scrappy at times. Love when smaller guards use scrappiness to make themselves known in games.
Trey Page (Sheridan):
Page is an incoming freshman with a strong build already for his age. Impressive part was how he rebounded and how he would fit for any board. Also hit a corner three so there is potential there.
Reed Mellencamp (Trinity Lutheran):
Mellencamp is a lanky player but has a solid motor right now. Works well off the ball and showed an ability to block shots. Not for sure what he is offensively at the moment.
Tait Wetzel (Heritage Hills):
Wetzel was one of the players that stood out to me at the Freshman Showcase. Lanky forward that has a high IQ right now and got to his spots well. Just needs to work on adding weight and being consistent around the rim.
Brady Windle (Cathedral): For his age and current position, Windle is already a strong post product. Real big for his age and did a great job cutting to the basket. Looks like he can stretch it a little as well.
Miles Stucky (N/A):
Stucky is s shorter guard that can push the tempo. Uses his quickness all over the floor and can shoot it a little from deep.
Braylon Kelly (South Spencer):
Kelly is already a taller freshman prospect. Showed some athletic ability and had some good cuts to the basket.
