Here are a few players we think should be among the best defenders in the state. Looking forward to seeing more players lock up during teh season.
is probably the best defender in the state pound for pound. not only is he a menace, he has speed and leaping ability that you do not see by average defenders. David will return to the court this season and it looks like he will suit up for Layton high school to end his senior season. This changes things as Layton automatically becomes a 6A LEGIT CONTENDER.
Paul is strong and long as he can hold things down in the post. Paul has shot blocking ability and he has lateral movement that can allow him to keep players in-front of him. Look for him to be a defensive standout for sure.
Chamberlain is the premier shot blocker in the state. Really hope that Lone Peak keeps track of his blocks because he should average 4+ a game the way he is moving and his timing on drives. Chamberlain can also switch 1-5 which makes him an even better weapon when you are planning defensive strategies.
Grayson can defend 1-5 and hold his own, one of the most vocal players you will see on the floor. His ability to communicate not only makes him a good defender but it makes everyone on the floor better because he functions as a QB or linebacker telling everyone where to go. Grayson knows when to take fouls and when to let defenders go.
Blake is a savvy defender. He knows how to use his strength and defensive skills to hold players down on the post and even push them off of the blocks. Really impressive ability to take charges and keeping players from getting to their spots. He can guard 3-5 with ease at the high school level.
