Continue ReadingThis year’s slate of Freshman Showcases is staring to come to a close, but there are still a few more states and regions that have yet to host Prep Hoops events that give the stage to their noteworthy 2027s.
One of those areas is the Carolinas and it will be the site of one of the final six Prep Hoops Freshman Showcases to take place. Cox Mill HS in Concord will be the site of this weekend’s festivities with other events occurring in Arizona, Texas, New England and Kansas throughout the remainder of September and Missouri in early October.
We have previewed some of the scheduled attendees in a couple of earlier articles in advance of this weekend’s event. Without further adieu, here is a look at a few more.

There are probably not too many players going into potentially better situations to begin their high school careers than Griffin. When he takes to the court wearing the Carmel Christian colors, he will be playing for a team that finished with a robust 28-4 mark last season. Griffin wore the gold and black Team Curry uniform this past spring and summer and among the attributes he displayed that will make him an asset to the Cougars are his scoring and passing abilities. Griffin’s court vision enables his teammates to stay in the flow of a game and puts them in position to make plays.

Isaiah Jordan Isaiah Jordan 5'6" | CG South Garner | 2027 NC
South Garner HS first opened relatively recently in 2018. Up to this point, the Titans have encountered their fair share of growing pains, but the emergence of Jordan could perhaps be an answer to those early difficulties. He is listed at 5-foot-6. Last season’s rendition of South Garner graduated a number of seniors, creating an open lane for Jordan to enter the team and make a significant presence. Jordan currently is slated to be the lone representative from South Garner to participate in this year’s Prep Hoops Freshman Showcase. Jordan will be under the tutelage this season of first-year head coach Kendrick Hall who previously was at Northside.

Malachi Hamlet Malachi Hamlet 6'1" | CG Gray Collegiate | 2027 SC
By virtue of the 2A state championships Gray Collegiate has won lately, anyone who plays for the War Eagles will automatically have plenty of attention on them throughout the Palmetto State. His AAU career has included a stint with Palmetto City Hurricanes and he hooped at Dent Middle School prior to this coming season. Hamlet has no problem locating driving lanes to the basket and approaches the game with a fearless attitude. Two defenders? Two points. Hamlet also approaches the game with a high basketball IQ and can convert offensive rebounds into two more points. He is listed at 6-foot-1.
Aidan Zimmerman
Aidan Zimmerman
Zimmerman will be a noteworthy name to watch this season in part because of the team he plays for. Atlantic Collegiate Academy, whose mascot is the Armada, is one of the newest schools to open throughout the Palmetto State. Beach City Ballers was whose travel team’s uniform he has worn previously during the grassroots season. Defensively, he is a consistent threat to collect steals and create additional possessions for his team. Zimmerman understands when the right time is to score and to pass. Rebounding is also a strong point of his game and whether it is via attacking the basket or shooting from the field, Zimmerman will find a way to put the ball through the basket.
