Battle Ground Academy – Whitehaven (June 2023)
I watched Battle Ground Academy versus Whitehaven from June. The game took place in Briarcrest Christian’s gym for BCAT Team Camp I. The big news for BGA this off-season is the addition of
Arnett Hayes

. Arnett is a wildly talented point guard with a Top 15 game in the state. He is not far off of the best point guards in Tennessee.
In this particular game, Arnett proved he will continue to get to the rim and earn placement at the free throw line. Considering the opponent, 4A Whitehaven, any success is sure to go over gangbusters in Battle Ground’s district battles where the opponents are slower.
How is

going to play as a senior?
If this game is any indication…pretty amazingly. Kavien will sign to Tennessee State University in November after verbally committing in early July.
KJ was wonderful last season and will be even better for two significant reasons: Physical maturation, Arnett addition.
Jones jumped center against Whitehaven looking slenderer than he was in January.
In the first couple of minutes Kavien get blocked by Tiger defenders.

(Whitehaven) was one of the foreboding forwards blocking him. The worry with Kavien, from my perspective, was always…is he tall enough to be a forward or light enough on his feet to be a wing. Well, he is going to be a 6-foot-5, 225-pound something. Absurdly strong. Fast in the open floor. Alas, he will be blocked in the OVC on occasion. He must figure out a way to be an effective low-post scorer when attacking 6-foot-8+ because that will be college life for him. Ideally, he will get pump fakes flying and keep using his low, strong base to establish and overpower.
Small, thin point guard Greyson Williams Greyson Williams 5'9" | PG Battle Ground Academy | 2025 State TN has a little wiggle to him. Coach Meyer likes to use him to initiate offense.
Overall, Battle Ground Academy features a team capable of repeating their 2014 success. Class A is loaded with talented teams (FACS, Goodpasture, CPA, Columbia Academy, Notre Dame), but Battle Ground is as good as any.

Battle Ground Academy – MTCS (March 2023)
Jacob Hinely hit a couple of three-pointers with a quick shot release. He might be able to help the 2023-2024 team some, but frankly the backcourt is stuffed with talent. Starting ahead of him currently are: Hayes,

is another player with similar skills. Jackson Hammontree too can play a little, but the team just is not structured favorably for him to get meaningful minutes.
