It’s only a starting point for rankings and the list will grow and change with each coming update but we have enough information to start our 2027 rankings. Here’s a look at the top small forward prospects in the class. This does not include players who are ranked in the top ten in the class.
Smith was the Most Outstanding Player at last season’s 8th grade “State Championship” and should have a big season for North Laurel as a freshman. A strong and physically mature wing, Joe can knock down threes or put the ball on the floor and get to the rim. He could be the best 2027 in the 13th region.
An athletic wing with a great motor, Thurman will likely carve out a role for himself at Woodford County after he was a starter for Frankfort last season by the end of the year. Wade is a good driver and finisher and has the potential to be a lock down defender on the other end of the court.
Highlights
Langhi enters the rankings at 26th but could move way up over time. Blessed with NBA genetics, Matthew’s dad is a former Mr Basketball, SEC Player of the Year and multiyear NBA player. Standing 6’3 already, Matthew could hit a growth spurt and be 6’7 in a year. Regardless, he’s a name to watch for.
Highlights
One of the best small school athletes in the 2027 class, Bradley is a good basketball player who doubles as the starting QB for the football team in the fall. At our freshman showcase Jack showed he can score the ball at all three levels and is a good shooter. Look for him to make an impact next season.
