We were able to spend a good amount of time at each of them and in this piece we take a closer look at the best big men we saw in the Las Vegas Big Time event.
Aiden Sherrell Aiden Sherrell 6'10" | C Prolific Prep | 2024 #39 Nation CA-N , 2024, Vegas Elite
One of the most agile, athletic and mobile big men in the class impacted the game on both ends of the floor. At 6-feet-11, Sherrell is a high level rim-runner and finisher. His footwork, hands and touch also come in handy in ball-screen action when screening and creating vertical spacing with the roll or catching and finishing at the rim. Sherrell uses his length and verticality well when protecting the rim.
Amari Davis Amari Davis 6'8" | PF Oak Ridge | 2024 FL , 2025, Florida Rebels
Davis has some throwback big man game in his arsenal in the sense that he’s more of a physical and bruising interior scorer than a finesse guy. The 6-foot-8 power forward/center uses his broad shoulders and strong base to back his way into the lane and score over either shoulder and with either hand.
Austin Maurer Austin Maurer 7'0" | C Cascade Christian | 2024 State #209 Nation OR , 2024, Team Why Not
From the time we saw him at Section 7 in 2022 to now, Maurer has improved on multiple aspects of his game. The 7-footer had wanted to be a stretch big man and showed some ability to knockdown catch and shoot three’s, but he has now added in some interior game on the offensive end, as well. Maurer was one of the better shot blockers and overall defensive centers we saw in this event.
Badara Diakite Badara Diakite 6'10" | C South Kent School | 2025 State #91 Nation New E , 2025, NY Lightning
Diakite is a mobile and quick-twitch athlete who plays with a high motor on both ends of the floor. The 6-foot-10 center is best when hanging out in the dunker spot to catch and dunk drop off passes on guard penetration. Diakite gets off the floor quickly for his first and second jumps and crashes the offensive glass with purpose.
