We will take a look at those prospects who have picked up division offers so far this summer, and a little about their game. Here’s a look at part one of the 2024 MD prospects who have new schools recruiting them this summer.
Caleb Williams Caleb Williams 6'7" | SF Sidwell Friends | 2024 State #93 Nation MD | 6’7” SF | Sidwell Friends
Prep Hoops MD Ranking: #2
Spring/Summer Offers: Providence, Syracuse, Florida State
Committed: Georgetown
Williams was rising quickly on the Peach Jam champion Team Takeover group this summer before shutting it down and deciding to stay local and play for Georgetown and new Head Coach Ed Cooley. The 6’7” wing has developed into one of the best two way players in the DMV as he is a big time athlete with long arms and the ability to guard multiple positions, he can put it on the deck and get downhill where he finishes with authority and he can make shots from deep too. It was a big splash for Cooley to get one of the best local prospects in his first recruiting class, and he’ll have a chance to play immediately when he gets there.
Daquan Davis Daquan Davis 6'1" | PG Overtime Elite (GA) | 2024 #119 Nation GA | 6’1” PG | OTE
Prep Hoops MD Ranking: #5
Spring/Summer Offers: Villanova, Notre Dame
Committed: Providence
Davis was the biggest reason St. John’s was able to upset their way to the WCAC championship last year, and this summer he was on a tear with Team Takeover before shutting it down and committing to Providence where new Head Coach Kim English comes from George Mason. Davis is the perfect first piece for English, as he’s an absolute dog of a point guard who values winning over everything and will set the tone for how they want to play moving forward. He’s a tenacious defender who guards the ball and jumps passing lanes, he gets downhill where he’s able to finish through contact and will challenge bigger defenders at the rim and he can both take over games and make others on his team better too.
Malcolm Thomas Malcolm Thomas 6'8" | PF DeMatha | 2024 State #122 Nation MD | 6’8” C | DeMatha
Prep Hoops MD Ranking: #6
Spring/Summer Offers: Xavier, Tulsa, Creighton, Villanova, St. Louis, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt
Thomas was already on the rise before he had a huge showing at DMV Live Session 1 where he went toe-to-toe with some nationally ranked bigs and not only held his own but outplayed many of them. He’s still somewhat of a project on the offensive end but he has brute strength in the paint and is a big time athlete, he plays above the rim with authority and is a big time rim protector and he brings a toughness and intimidation factor to his team. He will have the ability to compete for early minutes at the next level with his defensive ability, and as he continues to develop he could find himself becoming more and more crucial for a team over his four years.
Caden Diggs Caden Diggs 6'7" | SF Bullis | 2024 State #125 Nation MD | 6’7” SF | Bullis
Prep Hoops MD Ranking: #7
Spring/Summer Offers: American, St. Joe’s, Seton Hall, Oklahoma State, ECU
Diggs has been fun to watch develop over the last few years, as he has always had a lot of upside with his blend of size and athleticism and just continues to get better and better every time we see him. At 6’7” he has a basketball frame with long arms and he’s a very good athlete, he has good ball skills with the ability to attack in straight lines and make shots when he’s left open and with his trajectory his best basketball is still ahead of him. He’s had a good showing with New World on the 3SSB Circuit this summer, turning the heads of high major coaches and he still has more tracking him too.
Ty Bevins Ty Bevins 6'5" | SG Gwynn Park | 2024 State #157 Nation MD | 6’5” CG | Gwynn Park
Prep Hoops MD Ranking: #9
Spring/Summer Offers: American, George Washington, Drexel, Hofstra, Hampton
Bevins is a player who is young for his class and could take a prep year which may take him to the next level, but he’s shown this summer playing with a talented New World team that he’ll be able to step in and make an impact at the next level. The 6’5” combo has a skillset that includes the ability to handle and create shots for himself and others, he can play multiple roles whether it’s being the go-to scorer or a facilitator for others and he sets the tone with his intensity on both ends of the floor. He has prototypical size and is a good athlete, and his willingness to accept and play in different roles means he’ll transition just fine to the next level.
Tyonne Farrell Tyonne Farrell 6'6" | PF Mount St. Joseph | 2024 State #210 Nation MD | 6’6” F | Mount St. Joseph’s
Prep Hoops MD Ranking: #10
Spring/Summer Offers: Towson, Depaul, Nicholls State, Mount St. Mary’s
Commitment: Rhode Island
Farrell had an unbelievable showing at DMV Live and has been very good for Team Melo this summer on the EYBL, and he’s seen his stock soar because of it with coaches loving his energy and versatility. At 6’6” he’s a hybrid forward that can play inside-out, he has improved in his ability to put it on the deck and create shots, he does all the dirty work and exudes toughness and he’s starting to make tougher shots in the midrange and at the rim. He plays with terrific energy and he’ll have a chance to play early as he is the type of player you’ll love to have on your team but hate to play against.
Caleb Embeya Caleb Embeya 6'9" | C St. Maria Goretti | 2024 State #238 Nation MD | 6’9” C | St. Maria Goretti
Prep Hoops MD Ranking: #11
Spring/Summer Offers: Seton Hall
Embeya is another big man who has really come on as of late with a great summer on the EYBL Circuit and some big time showings in the DMV Live sessions, leading to his first high major offer in Seton Hall. The 6’9” big is powerful and athletic as he’s quick in the post and an explosive finisher, he runs the floor and plays with a good motor, he can make plays defensively as a rim protector and he’s still raw with a lot of room to continue to improve moving forward. His best basketball is still ahead of him, and he’s someone who could be a steal moving forward.
