Walls put together a solid two games while we watched. He was good on both ends of the court, playing with Jalen Green Elite 17’s. He played high level defense, staying close and making his man work. He was key on the offensive size knocking timely 3’s when the team needed one. He played so well he’s now headed to a prep school in Colorado.
Ward brought energy to the court. It didn’t take long for the newcomer him to find a way to contribute with this team. He was one of the active ones around the basket, using his length, and quick bounce to get put backs, and rebounds, he kept the ball live, and made tough shots in the paint. He has a hard to block mid-range jumper. He defended bigger players in the post with his lengthy arms.
The 6’9 Toure is on the upward path. He’s starting to understand at 6’9 he can have an effect on the game. He has square shoulders, and a frame to build up. He was engaged on the defensive side of the ball, having a presence in the paint, he went after blocks, worked for rebounds, and he got a few tap ins along with put backs. He was ready to receive the dump off pass.
Vasquez is still finding his way with this group. He has a good skill set, and understands how to play the game. His effort on the defensive side of the ball was good, using his length and smarts to stay in good position. We know he has good handles, but looked more like a shooting guard with this group. He found open shots along the perimeter for catch 3’s that went in. He hit key 3’s during one stretch. He gave good minutes.
He’s a long guard with the ability to run the point guard position. He has the handles and seems to be comfortable running thing at the top. He has good vision and sees over defenders. He stepped up his scoring at a time when things got tough, his long strides across the lane gets him right at the rim. He hit a couple of 3’s. He has length to help on the boards, and he handles well in transition.
Taylor seems to have found his rhythm at Rock Hill. He knocked down multiple 3-point shots on the catch while we were watching. Standing 6’5 he has the tools to get points in the paint with his strength, and aggressiveness. He can be physical, and have some effect working in the post.
