Player Comments from Coach Edman
Luke Olson Luke Olson 5'11" | PG Pierre | 2025 State SD |5’11” PG| Pierre
“He does everything you could ask of your PG and then some. He rebounds extremely well, has incredible awareness, court vision, and loves setting up his teammates for layups or open shots, and is an above-average shooter whose shot defenders have to respect. Not to mention he’s a great athlete and will be putting down some dunks during the high school season that are going to catch a lot of people by surprise considering his height. He will be one of the best PG’s in AA this coming season.“
Nash Peterswn Nash Peterswn 6'1" | SG Harrisburg | 2025 State SD |6’2” SG| Harrisburg
“Pure scorer who can beat you from anywhere on the court. Shoots the 3 at a very high % and has great quickness and athleticism to blow by defenders to finish at the rim. Also a great defender who causes a lot of problems with his length.“
Carter Tetzlaff Carter Tetzlaff 6'0" | SG West Central | 2025 State SD |6’0” G| West Central
“Able to score and get his shot off anytime he wants. Has unlimited range, will shoot, and make 3’s from any spot on the court if left open in the half-court. But also quick enough to blow by his defenders and strong enough to take and finish through contact.“
Beau Leslie Beau Leslie 5'11" | SG Brandon Valley | 2025 State SD |5’11” G| Brandon Valley
“Beau is a coach’s dream. He does every single little thing that doesn’t show up in the box score and also contributes to those that do. He thrives on defense by guarding the other team’s best player, and has a great feel for getting offensive rebounds. He is also an above-average shooter from 3 and his ability to finish at the rim considering his size is impressive.“
Braxton Pravecek |6’1” F| Estelline-Hendricks
“Braxton can knock down a 3 and is able to drive by you and finish at the rim through contact. Plays very physical defense and gets a lot of steals and deflections because guys just aren’t able to match up with him physically.”
Mason Ennis Mason Ennis 6'4" | SF Brandon Valley | 2025 State SD |6’4” F| Brandon Valley
“Great athlete, can catch on the wing and drive by you and score at the rim, or post up and create space and score with a variety of post moves. If he gets the ball in his spot on the block there is a great chance he is going to score or get fouled. Works very hard on defense and can guard a variety of positions with his size and quickness.“
Myles Meyer Myles Meyer 6'7" | PF Parker | 2025 State SD |6’7” C| Parker
“Big strong post player who works incredibly hard to create space for himself and his teammates. Has great touch around the rim and a nice mid-range jump shot that will catch opponents off guard. A great rebounder on both ends of the court.“
Aaron Rosenberger Aaron Rosenberger 5'10" | CG Harrisburg | 2025 State SD |5’10” G| Harrisburg
“Great defender who is always in the right spot either getting deflections, steals, and rebounds. Improved his shooting more than anyone else over the summer and moves without the ball extremely well. A true team player who always tries to make the right play.“
Landon Gross Landon Gross 5'11" | CG Sioux Falls Jefferson | 2025 State SD |5’11” G| Sioux Falls Jefferson
“Missed all of the summer due to an injury suffered during the track season. But did get to play 1 game with the team and it made me excited to see him healthy and playing with his team this winter. He is a strong defender who loves to initiate contact on both ends of the court, has great court vision, and loves to make the extra pass.“
Gus Scott Gus Scott 5'11" | PG Brandon Valley | 2025 State SD |5’11” PG| Brandon Valley
“Gus was originally not on our roster but because of some injuries, we brought him with us to the bigger tournaments we played. He was a great addition, he can score the ball from anywhere on the court. Scott is a defensive nightmare for opposing guards. He was constantly jumping passing lanes, getting steals, leading the fast break, and making the right play on the offensive end.”
Q&A with coach Zach Edman
PHD: How would you sum up the season for your squad?
Coach Edman: “This season was incredibly successful for this group of kids. Every single one of the boys made improvements to their game that will allow them to contribute to their High School teams seasons.”
PHD: What are some of the highlights from the season?
Coach Edman: “Besides the boys scoring 100 points in a game this summer, I would say that our biggest highlight of the year happened in the Championship Game of a tournament here in Sioux Falls. We were down 3 with 1.5 seconds left, I called a timeout and as the boys were coming into the huddle every one of them mentioned going on and winning the game in overtime. I loved hearing that type of confidence. Sure enough Carter Tetzlaff Carter Tetzlaff 6'0" | SG West Central | 2025 State SD hit a 3 and we went on to win the game in overtime. Off the court though, just watching all the boys bond and hang out together in their off time. They came out and supported the other teams in the program and cheered them on. That is something I really enjoy watching. The core of this group has been together for a couple of years now, and the way those guys accepted and welcomed the new guys to the team was impressive. This really helps to explain why their chemistry on the court is so good and fun to watch.“
PHD: How did you and your team overcome adversity?
Coach Edman: “This team was so good at coming from behind and finding ways to win when things weren’t going their way. Whether their shots weren’t falling, or calls weren’t going their way, and they were losing by double digits. They never quit. They constantly played team basketball and made the extra pass to get open looks and trusted that their teammates would make them. They turned up the pressure on defense to get steals and stops to lead to easy points to help them come back and win, which as you can see by their record they did more times than not.”
PHD: Who were a couple of your top shooters?
Coach Edman: “ Carter Tetzlaff Carter Tetzlaff 6'0" | SG West Central | 2025 State SD , Nash Peterswn Nash Peterswn 6'1" | SG Harrisburg | 2025 State SD and Braxton Pravecek were our go-to shooters and scorers this season. All 3 of these guys can beat you in so many different ways. Carter and Nash have unlimited range and are able to get a shot off whenever they want. Carter is so good at playing at his own pace. You are not going to speed him up and make him play too fast and out of control. If he wants to get to his spot to get a shot off he is going to get there and he’s going to make it more times than not. Nash is so long and quick that as soon as he makes a couple 3’s and you start to close out too close to him he’s going to drive right by you and finish at the rim. Braxton is one of the best in rhythm shooters we had. There were multiple games this summer he made 4 or more 3’s. He is also a matchup nightmare at his size because he’s able to handle the ball as well and can drive by you and finish at the rim if you put a bigger/slower guy on him, and can post up any smaller guards you put on him.“
PHD: Who was your most improved player?
Coach Edman: “ Mason Ennis Mason Ennis 6'4" | SF Brandon Valley | 2025 State SD made some incredible strides this summer. It was his first summer playing AAU basketball so you could tell early on in the season he wasn’t quite sure where he fit in on offense and how he could have an impact. But by the end of the season, he was dominating games. He was almost unstoppable when he would catch the ball in the post, and was a beast on the offensive glass. Defensively, he is big and strong enough to guard the other team’s post, but also quick enough to guard a wing which allowed us to play our 2 BIG’s at once and cause matchup nightmares for the opposing team. He and Myles Myer had an incredible connection on the offensive end and both took turns feeding the other and shooting layups.“
Who were some of your hardest workers?
Coach Edman: “ Luke Olson Luke Olson 5'11" | PG Pierre | 2025 State SD is one of the hardest working kids I’ve ever been around. Not only did he have the furthest drive of any kid on the team and still make every practice, but he was constantly in the gym on his own time and working on his game.”
“ Myles Meyer Myles Meyer 6'7" | PF Parker | 2025 State SD is also one of the hardest working kids we had. He is always in the gym working on his post-moves and mid-range game, and that carried over to the games this summer. He does an incredible job posting up and sealing guys to get open, and is a great passer too who loves to set his teammates up for open shots after he has drawn a double team.”
PHD: Who was your best defensive player and why?
Coach Edman: “ Beau Leslie Beau Leslie 5'11" | SG Brandon Valley | 2025 State SD is one of the most versatile defensive players I’ve ever been around. He’s only 5’11” but can guard 1-5. He can shut down guards on the wing one possession and then the next stop a big in the post he is giving up 6” of size to. He is personally offended whenever someone scores on him and every game he wants the challenge of guarding the other team’s best player regardless of what position he may play. I don’t know how many charges he took this summer, but I would be shocked if anyone in any age group in the entire state/region took more than him. He has an unteachable knack for loving contact and always seems to be in the correct defensive spot.”
PHD: Which tourney was the most fun?
Coach Edman: “The Prep Hoops Stomping Grounds tournament in Sioux Falls was a really well-run and fun tournament to play in. The competition we faced early on in the season was a great indicator of how our summer was going to go. We also went down to Kansas City for the Hoop City Classic and had a great showing down there. Both tournaments had a lot of college coaches in attendance which is always fun for the boys to see and play in front of.“
