It was a great weekend of hoops on the Prep Hoops Circuit at The Last Dance. Next weekend is the Hard Work Region Finals in Minneapolis. This squad will be there and they will have a ton of eyes watching them!
STANDOUTS
Damon Glasser Damon Glasser 6'4" | SG Dickinson | 2024 State ND |6’3 G| Dickinson
I like the looks of this Midgets game. Glasser is a long guard with excellent mobility. He got things going with a slash from the top of the key and Damon scored with a soft mid-lane runner. Next up, Glasser scored with a 15-foot pull-up jumper. The kid from the WDA has a nice stroke. Damon also scored in transition. I liked his aggression and how he gets two feet in the paint when attacking. Damon also showed excellent anticipation when deflecting and stealing passes. Glasser has a legit chance to be a breakout player this winter in the WDA.
Isiah St. Romain Isiah St. Romain 6'3" | SG Williston | 2024 ND |6’2 G| Williston
The Bison football commit stood out with his athleticism. St. Romain showed off his speed and hops with breakaway scores, come-from-behind blocks, and steals. Isiah showed his playmaking ability with an athletic tip-in basket. His athleticism was really on display when St. Romain tried to dunk on a defender. Isiah was fouled in mid-air but he kept going to the rack and he scored. This showed off impressive body control and athleticism.
Lewis Jones Lewis Jones 5'9" | PG Goodridge/Grygla-Gatzke | 2024 State MN |5’8 G| Goodridge-Grygla
The Minnesota kid is a quick sparkplug and he looked tough on Sunday morning. Jones is very unselfish and he can make all the passes. He was dishing, diming, kicking, creating, attacking, and assisting all game long. Jones gets deep penetration and he reads the defense to know exactly when the perfect time is to pass the ball. Lewis had assists to the BIGs around the basket and he found shooters for 3’s. Jones had multiple offensive rebounds because of his hustle. On one of them, he grabbed a long rebound and hit a 3-pointer shortly after. The Charger also scored with a slash that he finished with a lefty kiss off the glass. It was a great game for Jones, he must be a dawg in MN class A!
Dylan Zimmerman Dylan Zimmerman 6'5" | SF Moorhead | 2024 State MN |6’5 G| Moorhead
The sniper from Moorhead did not get a ton of looks but he did cash in on an inside-out triple. Much like his teammates, Dylan did a little of everything. He gave extra effort, blocked shots, ran the floor, and he grabbed O-boards. Zimmerman made multiple unselfish passes. Zim passed up a few open shots, instead, he moved the ball so his teammate had a great shot. It is fun to watch AAU teams when they share the rock.
Carter Zeller Carter Zeller 6'6" | PF Fargo North | 2024 State ND |6’6 PF| Fargo North
The BIG, strong, and tough Spartan played well, especially early. Zeller played hard and he never forced a shot. Carter did a bit of everything in the 20-point win. He blocked shots, boarded up on both ends, and scored around the basket.
Lucas Kupfer Lucas Kupfer 6'5" | SF Bismarck Legacy | 2024 State ND |6’5 SF| Bismarck Legacy
I am intrigued by his athleticism and length. Kupfer is always a tough matchup early in games. As a lefty, he gets a few easy slash-n-scores before the defense can adjust. Kupfer runs like a deer and this led to points in transition. I loved when Lucas caught high post, reversed pivoted, slashed, and went across the lane for a 2pt bucket. He showed his strength with an AND basket and he blocked shots on defense. I am looking forward to seeing Kupfer play again next weekend in the Finals.
Jacob Brandt Jacob Brandt 6'10" | PF Hillsboro/Central Valley | 2024 State ND |6’9 PF| Hillsboro-Central Valley
He was gobbling up the defensive rebounds all game. Brandt is very long with a quality jump shot. He showed his outside shooting with a 17-foot jumper. He also drained a 3-pointer from the top of the key. Brandt showed some admirable post moves from the block. On defense, he blocked and altered shots with his long arms and I love the fact that most of the time he did not foul. Jacob showed his strength with a full-contact finish. Brandt is an intriguing prospect, college coaches should certainly be interested. Scouts will get another chance to see Brandt play next weekend at the Hard Work Region Finals.
Logan Conklin Logan Conklin 6'5" | SF Minot | 2024 ND |6’4 F| Minot
He impressed me with his speed and overall athleticism. Conklin always plays full bore and he never takes possessions off. I like how quickly Logan elevates to the rim. He caught near the basket, gathered himself, and quickly scored before the D got to him. Conklin is a quick/springy leaper. Logan was impressive when he tipped a pass into the backcourt, sped down the court, and scored on a breakaway. Conklin can also push the tempo and lead the break in the open court. He scored in a PNR situation where he rolled, caught, and finished effortlessly. Conklin has great hands and feet. I love how hard and intense he plays.
