Here's a group of guys that weren't necessarily top performers, but still had good showings over the weekend and are definitely guys to watch over the rest of the summer.

[player_tooltip player_id='1612213' first='Isaiah' last='Brown'] | Cleveland | 2024

Brown's work rate was off the charts and he was counted on to initiate a large portion of the action for Cleveland all weekend. He had no issue getting inside and working through multiple defenders but struggled to consistently finish the play. He was a guy that averaged around 20 points per game last season at Peninsula and has the ability to score from all over. He's a tough guy to stay in front of and keeps that energy all game.

[player_tooltip player_id='1928680' first='Candon' last='Bible'] | Garfield | 2024

This is another guy that was darting around the court and making plays with his quickness, poking the ball loose from dribblers, sprinting down the court for transition buckets, and beating guys to loose balls. He also did some work getting to the rim and can be a slippery player with the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='2158318' first='Gabriel' last='Towne'] | Mountlake Terrace | 2024

Towne is a new name for me but he has great size and could be a key guy for a Mountlake Terrace team that made quite the run last season. He is 6-foot-7, has some decent touch from the mid-range, and had a pretty good work rate to challenge shots around the paint. He moves fairly well too and should get some decent minutes for a team that doesn't have much size.

[player_tooltip player_id='1631553' first='Michael' last='McDonald'] | Mercer Island | 2025

McDonald is a crafty guard who went to the paint floater over and over again in the first game I watched. He showed good focus through shot contests at the rim and was able to absorb some contact and still finish. Mercer Island seems like a pretty balanced team but McDonald has the tools to be a reliable guy in important stretches for them offensively.

Tristen Cruzen | Mercer Island | 2025

He ran the point for the Islanders and did a good job bringing variety to the attack. He's pretty solid with the ball and keeps the offense flowing, but also has the ability to take it inside himself and spread the floor a bit.

[player_tooltip player_id='1631554' first='Will' last='McDonald'] | Mercer Island | 2025

McDonald probably shot the least of the guys mentioned from Mercer Island, but his size and shooting were definitely on my radar. He could stand to be a bit more aggressive but the way he moved on the court felt natural and easy. He looks like a guy that could really come on in the next year or so.

[player_tooltip player_id='1611993' first='Langston' last='Ford'] | Mt Si | 2024

Langston and his brother come over to Mt Si to make them a more than formidable team in the 4A. It showed over the weekend, as Langston was a big presence inside, finishing all around the rim and showing consistency with both hands. Most of his shots came at the cup, but he's a versatile guy that allows the Wildcats to do some different things defensively and he has the motor to get out and run.

[player_tooltip player_id='1850311' first='Saxon' last='Niles'] | Federal Way | 2024

Niles didn't see a lot of action last season but he's in position to start for the Eagles this winter. He looks a little limited offensively but his impact on the defensive end showed. He knows how to eat up space with his long reach, blocked a number of shots, and has pretty good reactions.

[player_tooltip player_id='2158292' first='Dawson' last='Bouma'] | Lynden Christian | 2024

Bouma had a solid offensive performance over the weekend. He did a great job slashing inside and getting long at the rim. He also hit some jumpers from the mid-range to 3-point and looks like a pretty well-rounded player.

[player_tooltip player_id='2158308' first='Ken' last='Higgins'] | Walla Walla | 2024

Higgins really stood out from behind the arc. He was mainly a catch-and-shoot guy but hit at a high rate, and showed some ability to shoot off the dribble when the pace picked up. He was fairly strong with the ball and drew some fouls inside too, cashing in on his free throws.

[player_tooltip player_id='2158314' first='Cameron' last='Carrara'] | Walla Walla | 2024

Carrara is a wing with some good size. He's strong, rebounds at a good clip, and can handle the rock a bit. I didn't see much of his jumper but he was able to finish through contact at the rim and looks like a wing that can play bigger and impact the game inside.

[player_tooltip player_id='2156165' first='Amanna' last='Anusiem'] | Rogers (Puyallup) | 2024

I really like this guy's game. I've seen him a few times now this summer and he rarely seems to make mistakes. Anusiem is extremely strong at the rim, makes decisive drives and cuts, and is zeroed in at the line. He can handle the ball a bit and create some looks offensively, and plays just as smart and strong on the defensive end.

[player_tooltip player_id='1863197' first='Amare' last='Breedlove'] | Annie Wright | 2026

The sophomore is still maturing physically but he was tough on the boards over the weekend, especially on the offensive end, cleaning up misses and working to get to the line. He's another guy that thrives at the free-throw line, and he seems to get a lot of energy from his work inside.

[player_tooltip player_id='1485656' first='Nick' last='Sanders'] | Federal Way | 2025

It's a new look Federal Way this year and Sanders looks to have a pretty good role going forward. He's a very solid player who makes plays when the ball comes his way. He can hit from three, has the strength and quickness to finish inside, and doesn't hesitate to attack. He'll help keep the Eagles' attack balanced and works hard on the defensive end.
