Earlier this summer we looked at “new names” from all league teams. We didn't get around to looking at the southeast part of the state. ‘Til now.

Here are some Southeast Kansas returners who earned all-league honors last season but have yet to receive a lot of recognition statewide:

Crawford-Neosho-Cherokee League:

[player_tooltip player_id='2387731' first='Loch' last='North'], 6-foot-3 forward, 2024, Riverton - 2nd team

North was a strong front court support to senior Jamey Richardson. He helped lead the Rams to a solid 12-9 campaign that saw nearly all their losses come to regional powers Galena, Girard and Columbus. North has a chance to be the Rams' leader next season.

South Central Border League:

Maddox Moreno, 5-foot-10 guard, 2025, West Elk – 1st team

The Patriots were led by some underclassmen, so they will look to improve on the 11-9 record they posted a year ago. Moreno led the team in scoring, assists and steals as a sophomore and earned first team honors in the league. He averaged 14 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 2.5 steals.

Southeast Kansas League:

Kaiden Seamster, 6-foot-3 forward, 2024, Chanute – 1st team

An athletic big man who impacts the game at both ends, Seamster helped lead Chanute to a solid 14-7 mark as a junior. He routinely posts a diverse stat line. He runs the floor and finds openings on the perimeter to hit from deep. He is also active around the rim at the defensive end.

Three Rivers League:

Gus Grote, 6-foot-2 forward, 2024, Jayhawk-Linn – 1st team

Grote was the scoring and rebounding leader of the 15-6 Jayhawks. The multi-sport athlete plays a versatile role and contributes a lot off rebounds. He averaged 13 points and 11 assists as a junior.

Tri-Valley League:

[player_tooltip player_id='2147808' first='Ethan' last='Dillinger'], 6-foot-7 forward, 2024, Erie – 1st team

This guy is long. He blocks a ton of shots floating around the paint to pick off drivers. But he's a lot more than just a tall guy. Teams who leave him open on the perimeter pay the price as he is a deadeye from deep. He can also put the ball on the floor to get to jumpers. His length allows him to get a shot off almost anywhere.
