June 21st-22nd I watched the inaugural Section-7 Qualifier. There were 96 teams in 12 pools of 8 teams each.

The 12 winners advanced to the official Section-7 Friday-Sunday versus some of the top teams in the West Coast.

Here were some of the top SF's I viewed:

[player_tooltip player_id='1674510' first='AJ' last='Ajawin'] Deer Valley

A long wing who can hit the three and switch onto different positions defensively with his length and quick twitch athleticism. His ability to score inside on put backs and hit the three makes him versatile.

[player_tooltip player_id='1231502' first='Bryce' last='Anderson'] Phoenix Christian

A long and lean wing with some serious vertical pop. He will block shots with great timing, throw down thunderous dunks and then score on pull-ups and hit threes.

[player_tooltip player_id='1334830' first='Nigel' last='Anderson'] Dysart

A long athletic two-way forward rebounds and blocks shots. He will score from all levels with the three, drives in traffic and throw it down on the break. He has a lot on his table this year and he is early player of the region vote as one of the best players in the Black Canyon Region of 4A.

[player_tooltip player_id='1893708' first='Prince' last='Cash'] Carl Hayden

A long wing defends multiple positions. He gets downhill well with long strides to the basket. He plays mostly inside and makes it difficult to score around him. He will score a lot on offensive rebound put backs.

[player_tooltip player_id='1119350' first='Wyatt' last='MacKay'] North Canyon

A wing scorer will be their go-to guy for the Rattlers. His skill keeps polishing up from the three and his pull-up is more crisp. He runs the floor, dribble drives with either hand to the rim with a deceptively quick first step.

[player_tooltip player_id='2039513' first='DJ' last='Spencer'] Desert Vista

A strong lefty with a good frame. He works hard for position and can score thru contact. He can hit shots from the elbow and comes in ready to play for an incoming freshman. He actually started for the Thunder.

[player_tooltip player_id='1128463' first='Aidan' last='Schmidt'] Casteel

A wing with sneaky athleticism to score inside. He knows how to play on both sides of the court. He has good defensive principles to stay with his man and then quickly recover and help. He is a good passer and makes the correct decisions. He scores thru contact, he can hit the jumper as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='2039509' first='Samuel' last='Southerland'] Leading Edge

A newcomer for me is an active wing. He scores inside and he is a sneaky good passer. He will hit the catch three and rises up from mid-range with high elevation. He rebounds inside with a big motor and is hard to take off the floor for the small school.

[player_tooltip player_id='1390361' first='Keon' last='Talgo'] Gilbert Christian (Pictured)

One of the top scores of the qualifier. He carried the Knights all week long. He can score on the catch three, get to the basket, use floaters and contact drives. He handles it well and changes speeds to get the defense off of him. He may be a 20+ ppg performer all year long.

[player_tooltip player_id='1950115' first='Alex' last='Taylor'] Desert Vista

A long wing is a very fluid athletic sophomore forward. He has a good layup package with euros, step thrus and reverse layups. He rebounds the ball in his area and he should be a contributor all year long.

[player_tooltip player_id='2039510' first='DJ' last='Williams'] Desert Vista

A long wing rattled off catch threes one by one. He has decent size and length and comes with a consistent stroke. He rebounds well and will block shots in his area. My first viewing of him and he shined.
