Justus McNair Justus McNair 6'3" | SG Joliet West | 2024 State IL – Joliet West 2024 (Valpo)
Justus was in his flow for a strong stretch in the second half with Valpo assistant coaches watching him. He scored a flurry of buckets from three and with some pull-up buckets in the mix. A special talent with much room to grow.
Stefan Cicic Stefan Cicic 7'0" | C Riverside Brookfield | 2024 State IL – Riverside Brookfield 2024
Cicic is a big problem for most teams in the state. The 6’10 Center scored well out of the post today as well as dished out some assist when double-teamed. He was superb at cleaning the glass.
Daniel Pauliukonis Daniel Pauliukonis 6'8" | SF Benet | 2025 State IL – Benet 2025
Daniel is a player who shows so much upside and potential in just one play. I like the length and footwork that Pauliukonis has and it makes him a difficult player to prepare for. He has a nice shot but is so skilled and composed that he can beat you on the inside without using a lot of strength.
Jason Jakstys Jason Jakstys 6'10" | C Yorkville | 2024 State #141 Nation IL ‐ Yorkville 2024
A player who just recently received an offer from the Illini Jason is out to answer the sideline questions of if he can play high-major basketball. My answer would be yes. At 6’9 he can pretty much do it all on offense, using his length and versatility to play on the wing or inside with his back to the basket. Jakstys shot the ball well on limited attempts. And he was pretty good at protecting the rim with 3 blocks.
Jordan Tunis Jordan Tunis 5'10" | PG Schaumburg | 2025 IL ‐ Schaumburg 2025
Tunis is a fast guard, who can beat most guys in transition for scores. He is a guard who likes to get paint touches which create for his teammates and himself. He had a nice-looking shot that I would like to see him utilizing more often.
JT Pettigrew JT Pettigrew 6'8" | C Bolingbrook | 2025 State IL – Bolingbrook 2025
First time seeing Pettigrew at his new school and he got out to a good start, connecting on a pair of threes before moving inside to his midrange pull-up. JT was solid on the glass and did a good job at keeping Benet players off the boards for second chances.
Shaunassey Hatchett – Springfield Lanphier 2025
It was the first time for me seeing Hackett play. He looked to be very explosive on the glass and in scoring situations. Shaunassey had many dunks on the day that were energy plays for his team. He is a slashing forward who likes to play above the rim and is aggressive mostly in fastbreak plays.
Jayden Wright Jayden Wright 5'11" | PG Benet | 2026 State IL – Benet 2025
Wright was another under-the-radar performer for Benet. He nailed 4 threes in a very tough matchup against Bolingbrook. Jayden is a slick guard who often helps with point guard duties for the Redwings. If he continues to make shots in these tough matchups, Wright will eventually have to be added to the 2025 list. This kid is a scholarship player no doubt.
Dillion Fountain – Perspectives 2025
Dillion was the other unknown prospect I witnessed, in Romeoville on Sat. Fountain is a quick twitched guard who can score well off the bounce blowing past guys to get to the rim. He had a great-looking shot as he made several from deep. As a junior, he can open some eyes this upcoming season.
Jax Abalos Jax Abalos 6'7" | SF Batavia | 2025 State IL – Batavia 2025
In the game, I watched with several coaches tracking Jax took 2 shots the whole first half. In a very close game in the second half, Jax took a handful of shots and opened up the half with a deep three. At his size of 6’6, Jax is a wing who can beat guys with his first step. And if they close out short on him he made them pay with an all-net three-pointer.
Larenz Walters Larenz Walters 6'2" | PG Kankakee | 2024 State IL – Kankakee 2025
Was impressed with the way Walters scores the ball. He gets to his spot and can make plays very often. A returning scorer from last season’s team, Larenz is a strong guard that finishes well at the basket. His shot is smooth and he can make it from all three levels.
Nolan Sexton Nolan Sexton 5'11" | PG Evergreen Park | 2024 State IL – Evergreen Park 2025
As I watched Sexton from afar, he was still considered one of the better shooters in the state. He is a smaller guard that has deep range on his shot. Nolan has improved as a decision maker when at the lead guard spot. In his earlier game, he hit over 5 three-pointers to give his team a convincing win over Bowen.
Nick Taylor Nick Taylor 6'6" | PF Glenbrook South | 2024 State IL – Glenbrook South 2024
What an outstanding game from Taylor in the afternoon. He started with a gym pleasing alley-oop that boosted his team’s confidence against a rugged squad (Christ The King). Nick did a good job at slashing to the rim with his hands up and ready often catching defenders sleep for easy buckets. He plays well along the baseline as he had several baskets using his strength and athleticism. Holding an offer from Lewis I expect to see his list of suitors grow in the July period.
