Bishop Gorman high school was crawling with media, writers, scouts and NBA personnel for the three day event. We were able get eyes on every team and every player in attendance. Below is a breakdown of the best passers we saw.
Ahmad Nowell Ahmad Nowell 6'0" | PG Imhotep Charter | 2024 State #36 Nation PA , 2024, Imhotep Charter (PA)
Nowell showed the uncanny ability to bring teammates together and form a cohesive group despite those guys having little to no experience playing on the same team and that had a lot to do with his passing. The 6-foot point guard was always looking to probe into the lane and kick the ball out to shooters and jump started fast break opportunities by throwing hit-ahead passes in transition. Nowell’s willingness to be a connector was capped by an eight-assist performance in leading his team to a win in the Top 25 game.
Elzie Harrington Elzie Harrington 6'5" | PG St. John Bosco | 2025 State #25 Nation CA-S , 2025, St. John Bosco
California-based media, scouts and basketball on-lookers have always known about Harrington’s passing ability but he was able to take it to a national stage at the Pangos All-American Camp. The 6-foot-5 point guard makes the simple but effective play and delivers passes on-time and on-target. Harrington is sometimes unselfish to a fault but it draws out the trust in every teammate he has because they know he’s looking to get them the ball.
Jasper Johnson Jasper Johnson 6'5" | PG Woodford County | 2025 #15 Nation MO , 2025, Link Academy (MO)
Johnson is a highly crafty combo guard whose ability to score and distribute makes him a prospect who can play both guard positions. The 6-foot-5 lefty is a long, wiry and shifty ball handler whose ability to change direction and manipulate the defense with the dribble allows him to get paint touches. Johnson made numerous drive and kick passes but was best in ball-screen action where he threw pocket passes to bigs and skips to open shooters. Johnson dished out six assists in the Top 25 game.
Alec Elkins Alec Elkins 5'9" | SG Lucy Beckham | 2024 #46 Nation SC , 2024, Baker (AL)
Philon has the reputation of being a high level scorer and he certainly drove that point home over the course of the three days but the Auburn-commit also put people on notice that he can pass the rock, as well. The 6-foot-3 combo guard is a creative ball handler who can shed defenders off the bounce with a couple of quick moves. Philon draws a crowd when he gets into the paint because of his mid-range shooting which left his teammates alone for wide open jumpers.
Robert Wright III Robert Wright III 6'0" | PG Montverde Academy (FL) | 2024 State #35 Nation FL , 2024, Neumann Goretti (PA)
Wright is an infectious passer – and all-around leader – whose teammates were comfortable with him having the ball in his hands because they knew he would make the right decision every time. The 6-foot point guard has elite vision in both transition and half-court settings, can make high level reads in ball screen action, throws accurate and timely lob passes and is always looking to be a set up guy. Wright averaged five assists per game in his five games played.
Tyler McKinley Tyler McKinley 6'9" | PF Winton Woods | 2024 State #78 Nation OH , 2024, Link Academy (MO)
McKinley is the biggest of the best passers on this list and it’s always good to see a big fella who can dish the ball. The 6-foot-9 center was one of the more effective low block players in the camp because of his ability to score and create for others with his back to the basket. McKinley kicked to open shooters when a drew a double team, found cutters, and, when he put the ball on the deck going to the middle of the court, he hit open shooters on the opposite side of the floor.
