There were many standouts throughout the event, and plenty of offers were thrown around as well. Here’s a look at part one of the 2024 standouts from the Maryland schools in attendance.
Jordan Braithwaite | 6’4” WF | Mount St. Joe’s
Braithwaite has really emerged this summer as a stock riser that should continue to see more and more offers coming through, especially after his play at DMV Live where he showed his mix of scoring and toughness that’s easy to love. The 6’4” wing is a talented shot maker who can drill it from deep and get to spots off the bounce to score, he competes on the defensive end and on the glass as well and he has a good feel and IQ for the game too. He finished the event averaging 15.3 points on 65% shooting and 5.8 rebounds per game.
Tyonne Farrell Tyonne Farrell 6'6" | PF Mount St. Joseph | 2024 State #210 Nation MD | 6’6” F | Mount St. Joe’s
Farrell is the heart and soul of this MSJ team, as he plays with an incredible motor and has the ability to take over games by making plays on both ends of the floor. The 6’6” hybrid forward plays with a lot of toughness and has a competitive chip to his game, he does all the dirty work that helps his team, he’s an athletic finisher who thrives in transition and he steps up most when his team needs him to. He finished the event averaging 16 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.
DJ Wingfield DJ Wingfield 6'1" | CG Mount St. Joseph | 2024 State MD | 6’1” CG | Mount St. Joe’s
Wingifled had a very good showing in front of a number of coaches that should boost his stock, as he showed his ability to make shots at a very high rate. He can put it on the deck and create space, he knocked down shots from deep consistently and was efficient throughout the event. He finished the four games averaging 14 points on 54% shooting from the filed and made 14 threes in the four games.
Malcolm Thomas Malcolm Thomas 6'8" | PF DeMatha | 2024 State #122 Nation MD | 6’8” C | DeMatha
Thomas boosted his stock as much or more than anyone, as he was a force on both ends of the floor and played extremely well against very high level competition. The 6’8” Thomas is a strong and athletic forward who dominates on the defensive end as a rim protector and physical paint presence, he runs the floor well and is a very explosive finisher above the rim and he showed improvement in his touch out to the midrange. He finished the event averaging 14.3 points on 56% shooting from the field, 5.8 rebounds and 4 blocks per game.
Martin Sommerville | 6’1” CG | Bishop McNamara
Sommerville has steadily improved over the past few years to become one of the best guards in the DMV, and he was fantastic for McNamara as their senior go-to guy and made shots in a number of impressive ways. The crafty lefty showed good pace and the ability to change speeds and create space off the bounce, he makes shots deep at a very high clip and he shows good poise and decision making too. He finished the event averaging 20 points per game shooting 50% from deep.
Caleb Embeya Caleb Embeya 6'9" | C St. Maria Goretti | 2024 State #238 Nation MD | 6’8” C | St. Maria Goretti
Embeya was a very intriguing prospect that had college coaches buzzing with his upside as he’s a very athletic forward who has a good base skillset and still has a lot of room to improve. He is a mobile big who runs the floor and is quick and explosive off his feet, he has good moves in the paint and can face up and put it on the deck and he uses his length and athleticism to rebound and protect the rim. He finished the event averaging 17.5 points on 56% shooting, 7.3 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game.
