As always, we had boots on the ground from tip-off to the final buzzer and had plenty of content throughout the event. However, the work doesn’t stop now. Before diving into some bigger picture takeaways, let’s take a look at six prospects who stood out specifically on Sunday at the Charlie Hughes Showcase.
You can’t say enough about what Brownstown Central accomplished this weekend at the Charlie Hughes Showcase. The Class 2A school went 4-0 in a pool of good Class 4A programs including Crown Point, Center Grove, Cathedral, and Westfield. Purdue commit Jack Benter Jack Benter 6’4″ | SG Brownstown Central | 2024 State #121 Nation IN scored 25 points to help finish the undefeated weekend in a 65-56 win over Westfield on Sunday afternoon. The 6’5″ sharpshooting guard was a big part of the Braves success against larger school programs at the event.

Just 48 hours or so before receiving surgery to repair an ankle injury, this 5’11” point guard went off for 32 points in a blowout victory against Tindley. Etchison also scored 30 points in a win on Saturday morning as Hamilton Heights would finish 3-1 on the weekend. He is a tough, high IQ guard that creates his own shot off of the dribble, gets good elevation on his pull-up, and has the strength and athleticism to help make up for being a little smaller in stature. The skill level is there and he is a guard that college programs should take a look at heading into next season.
When we updated our prospect rankings there likely won’t be anyone who makes a bigger jump than Haywood, especially considering he was already a Top 50 prospect. The 6’4″ guard continued his dominant spring and summer with it finally culminating in some offers coming his way. This won’t be the last time we write about his weekend so let’s just focus on what he did on Sunday. Haywood scored 29 points in a blowout win against Fort Wayne North Side and then led the way once again in a 70-65 win over Lawrence Central to finish off an undefeated 4-0 weekend for Brebeuf. His stock continues to rise and the month of July should bring even more DI offers his way.

There aren’t a lot of pure scorers in the Class of 2025 with more skill than this 6’0″ Park Tudor guard. Horvath is an excellent ball handler, creates his own shot consistently off of the bounce, and can absolutely light it up from beyond the arc. On Sunday, Horvath went off for 36 points in a 64-57 win over Heritage Hills. Park Tudor finished the weekend 4-0 and certainly gained even more respect on a statewide basis which is exactly what could be said for their star rising junior guard as well. He could be one of the top scorers in the state next season.
For a team that expected to enter next season likely in the Top 5 of Class 4A, it was an admittedly disappointing weekend at the Charlie Hughes Showcase for Crispus Attucks. They went just 1-3 with losses to stiff competition against Penn, Westfield, and Noblesville. However, the Tigers ended on a high note with a 72-67 win over Warren Central on the back of 34 points from this 6’1″ shooting guard. Rutland poured it in from all over the floor to cap off of the weekend showing off both his perimeter shooting ability and athleticism when attacking the basket. He is one I would bet on seeing his offer list grow during the month of July.
No stranger to making “top performer” type lists this spring and summer, Windham did it again by capping off a perfect 4-0 weekend for Ben Davis with 25 points in a win over Carmel. The 6’3″ guard also poured it in from beyond the arc against Noblesville on Saturday afternoon as well. He is just such an elite three-point shooter that also gets after it on the defensive end of the floor and is ever-improving as a playmaker off of the bounce. Windham will be able to play both on and off of the ball at the next level. There were several high-major coaches at his games this weekend and will be interesting to see if July brings one more jump in his recruitment.
