Sidenote: North Dakota will have 3 classes next year (AA, A, B). If you are wondering why someone is not in the article, they might be in AA or B.
See below, all of these guys have a legit chance to play college ball at some level.
Class A Prospects
This Viking just oozes potential and intrigue. You have heard me say it many times, Ouse has PG skills and PF length. He is a smart baller that makes plays from every level on the court. He truly can defend any position on the court and can play 1-5 if need be. I like his craftiness inside the arc and his pull-up is almost unstoppable when he is looking for it. Kindred will be long, athletic, and one of the best in A next season. It will be interesting to see what role Ouse takes on. Whatever it is, I know he will succeed.
He had a breakout soph season and was named All-EDC. Brodina’s effort is always full throttle and he plays with an edge. Parker is playing with Bears Tail and Northern Elites in AAU. He leads both teams on the offensive and defensive ends. In AAU, Parker is an offensive force around the cup, hits the glass hard, and has been an excellent screener. Brodina is improving his quickness, attacking downhill, his mid-range J, and accuracy from beyond the arc. Parker will be an All-State talent next school season. Get your eyes on this Firebird!

If you watched class B basketball the past 5 years then you know that the last name Peraza also means “ATHLETE”! His older brother Jaiden was a freak athlete and Presley is no exception. He had a solid sophomore season and put up nice numbers. What has impressed me this spring is Presley’s improved shooting. His outside shooting looks more fluid and consistent. It sounds like he is gaining some good interest from college coaches. Peraza is another headache matchup for the Vikings and he will be one of the top dunkers in class A for the next two years.
He did not put up crazy stats last season but Peterson was once of the top BIGs in class B. Karter was a crucial player for the Tommies who won the Region Championship and two games at the State Tournament. Peterson is strong, tough, and a hard worker. He is an old school interior player with quality post moves and impressive reaction time. I like him as a tough defender and productive rebounder as well. Karter will have to take on an expanded role with Starcevic gone next season. Expect his numbers/production to shoot up.
Wirth has a ton of potential. Oliver is working hard at adding muscle this offseason. In AAU, Oliver is active around the basket on both ends of the court. He finishes with both hands and runs the floor like a deer. His long arms make him an effective rebounder and shot contester. Wirth scores from 3, mid-range, and around the basket. This summer, Oliver is continuing to work on his finishing around the basket and at extending his shooting range. Watch out for Wirth and the Firebirds next season, they will be the frontrunners!
He was a major player for the Tommies who won Region 2 and finished 5th at State. However, this next season, Starcevic will be wearing Blue and White, the color of the Vikings! I have watched Jake play a couple times this summer with Kindred and it seems like he fits right in. He is a special athlete with a combination of size, strength, agility, and explosiveness. I have liked the looks of his pull-up game and finishing around the basket. I have also seen Starcevic make some very nice passes. Once the season gets rolling, it will be interesting to see what niche the newest Viking carves out.
He was a playmaker for the Skyhawks last year and a major reason why Shiloh took 2nd at State. Englund is going to be a DUDE this coming year and he will step into even bigger shoes. I really like the intensity & wherewithal that Englund plays with. He pushes the tempo and always puts pressure on the defense. Caden can score at the rim with a wide variety of moves. What really impresses me is his deep penetration into the defense and how it demands attention. Once Englund gets 2-feet in the paint, lookout, playmaking is going to happen! His vision allows him to find the perimeter shooters spotting up and/or drop dimes to guys inside the arc. Englund’s size and athleticism are also noteworthy. Caden will have a great season in class A and his stock will likely continue to rise.

He certainly has the lineage, basketball fans might have heard of his older brother Grant! The young Mr. Nelson has looked good in AAU with Bears Tail. I saw him make a clutch game winning bucket earlier this spring. Nelson runs the floor well on both ends of the court and he can guard on the wing and in the post. Joel can stretch the floor with the 3 and post for buckets. He knocks down perimeter J’s and scores off the bounce. Joel is a special athlete but needs to improve on his strength. He is dedicated to working on the weights this offseason. His jump shooting is improving on a daily basis. Nelson’s best basketball is certainly ahead of him.
He is shooting the three-point shot better this offseason. This summer, Mauch has been getting to the rim and scoring the rock at a good clip. He is getting stronger everyday. Mauch’s consistent attendance and work in the weight room is paying off. Treyton is bigger, faster, and stronger. Expect Mauch to be a lead guard for the Huskies and for his role to increase tenfold next season. I think Mr. Mauch is going to surprise some people this winter.
He saw plenty of success last season! Westin and the Skyhawks won Region 5 and they finished 2nd at State. Westin is a major shooting threat from three-point land. Wyatt stretches the floor and makes opposing teams pay if they don’t guard him. Westin is a difference maker from beyond the arc, but he also has a quality mid-range game. Westin, Englund, and Wilkinson are going to be a scary trio this coming year. Keep track of this smooth-shooting Skyhawk!
