The June Live Period is officially behind us and it was an outstanding opportunity to see hundreds of prospects over the course of two weekends. Over that span, there were several in the 2024 class who made stout arguments for a boost in the next release of our 2024 player rankings. For this article, I'll spotlight those names in contention.

[player_tooltip player_id='1370514' first='Malcolm' last='Thomas'] | DeMatha

Thomas was brilliant in the two weekends playing in front of a plethora of high major coaches that officially bought stock in the idea of the 6'7 southpaw being a future contributor at their level. Currently ranked as the No. 6 prospect, don't be surprised if you see Thomas' name eclipse the top five. His two-way impact and blossoming overall skillset is nothing to be ignored.

[player_tooltip player_id='1280947' first='Tyonne' last='Farrell'] | Mount St. Joe

Farrell was easily one of, if not the top stock riser of the DMV Live event. The 6'6 wing proved himself as a legitimate playmaker from the perimeter, flourished as a grab-and-go threat making good decisions off the live bounce and controlling the game with his touches in the mid-post area. Currently No. 10, a strong showing in July could mean for Farrell to leap frog a couple of prospect ahead of him in the next update.

Martin Somerville | Bishop McNamara

Somerville proved in June that he'll be a major reason why this young, talented McNamara team is a tough opponent in the WCAC. The 6'2 lefty can make his impact felt playing on or off of the ball offensively and while he has built a reputation as a long-range sniper, his floor game continues to improve with each viewing. Somerville ranks No. 12 and could realistically find himself in the top 10 with a strong July.

[player_tooltip player_id='1366892' first='Kingston' last='Price Jr.'] | Severn

Price has always been a guy that I've felt needed to play in front of the right eyes to be appreciated. That took place at DMV Live where the 6'1 point guard posted loaded stat lines with regularity and proved himself as a valuable player who comes through in the clutch. Price sports a No. 31 ranking and if he continues his level of play with New World in July, could find himself comfortably in the top 25.

[player_tooltip player_id='2231839' first='Shamir' last='Taylor'] | St. Charles

Taylor impressed in his showing at MBBC Live when I attended for Sunday's slate of games. The 5'11 southpaw floor general run the show for a St. Charles team who should be a force in the SMAC this season. With Taylor, they have a quick and shifty lead guard who can get to his spot in a flash, possesses good feel as a distributor and plays with edge. Currently unranked, Taylor will certainly see his name in the next release.

[player_tooltip player_id='1225259' first='Jordan' last='Brathwaite'] | Mount St. Joe

Brathwaite is another Gael who will see his ranking increase. The 6'4 guard racked up more offers than any other prospect when you compare his recruitment from before the first live weekend of June. He's a dynamic combo guard who can impact the floor at both ends and have his say in a handful of statistical categories. Currently ranked No. 46, Brathwaite will have the most dramatic jump in the next update.
