I was going to write about this tomorrow but I need to speak on it now! Eight of the top ten 15u teams in the state are in this event. The best of the best are ready to rumble to find out who the best 15u squad in Minnesota is right now!
Back to last weekend…..
Scheels Prospect Series. Who won the Prospect Series at 15s? Minnesota Fury Reyes! And not only did they win it they beat the top Select team in the title game, by 22! They also defeated the top Comets team in a one score game as well as the other Select team in the Series. Fury Reyes was your champs!
And Select Altenhofen took a lot from the weekend as well not only taking second place, but getting a big win over Fury Antl who started the season 22-0. Fury Antl rebounded to take out the North Dakota Phenom and then blow out a couple teams. And Comets went 3-1.
Select Memorial Day Shootout. A very good year for the Minnesota Select Brewer team continued this weekend when they beat a top five Minnesota Splash team in a three score game for the title. Splash had beaten Select Brewer earlier in the year (and they had beaten Select Altenhofen) but Brewer got some revenge earning a weekend championship handling the Splash only their third loss of the season.
Memphis. The Howard Pulley/Team Tyus squad in the highly competitive E15s league lost a close game to the Skills Factory and then dropped their other three games as well. They now have a 3-13 record this year in that league.
Shakopee. I would say the two teams that caught my attention the most when looking at the results were Team X Magic and the Northstar Titans Kuhl team. The Magic was in pool A and they beat one of the Sizzle teams as well as a team from Kansas City while losing to Iowa Barnstormers in a close game and losing to VWMA. You know what they said about a team that goes 2-2 in showcase game pool play? That’s the pool they belong in!
Good weekend for the Titans too beating the J Sizzle Adidas Gold team (not to be confused with the 3SSB teams as Gold is the second group of Adidas play), they beat the second D1 Minnesota team, and knocked off a Sizzle team for a 3-1 weekend.
