A southpaw is a term used to describe a left-handed person, particularly in sports. Most basketball players are right-handed, therefore a left-handed player is oftentimes more difficult to guard/match up with.
We have NINE Southpaws to look at from the recently updated 2026 Prospect Rankings.
Surging Southpaws
He has the height and length of a low post but makes plays like a wing. Roubudeaux showcased his athleticism and playmaking ability at Stomping Grounds. Jonathan made plays going downhill and finishing with fancy feet. He is an athletic scorer and can also hit the perimeter jumper. His ceiling is very high. I imagine that Legacy is excited about his versatility, D potential, and glass cleaning.

Chris “Big Shot” Benning has proved himself as one of the elite offensive players in this 2026 class. Benning was the top scoring frosh in class A, he has also produced at a high level with his ECI squad. Chris is clever and crafty with the ball in his hands. The Saint is a deadeye from deep and is knockdown in the catch-n-shoot game. Chris moves well without the ball and is a fluid shooter. Do not give this kid space.
He is likely the most intriguing player in this class. Abakar has everything that coaches love: height, length, mobility, versatility, shooting, 3-level scoring, D-stopping ability, and rebounding production. Abakar has had some high scoring games on the Prep Hoops Circuit and he has turned some heads. The young Bruin has to have the South coaching staff super excited.
He has really improved defensively since the start of AAU hoops this spring. His rebounding has also steadily improved. It is hard to take a player off the floor that defends and boards. Most of Sam’s scoring comes from transition buckets and via the slash to the rim. As of late, Glandt has been excellent at taking care of the ball. Sam “The Show” Glandt has an effective jab step, is strong, and is aggressive off the bounce. As his outside shooting and cutting improves, Sam will be lethal on the offensive end.

This BIG eagle is a workhorse on the hardwood. Williams is a productive rebounder and has provided toughness for his ECI team. Collin gives his ECI team a post presence. He is regularly guarding players that are bigger and he never backs down. His length is intriguing. Everyone loves a grinder and a player that will do the little things. I imagine that coach Manson has his eyes on Mr. Williams as a key role player for years to come.
He is a true Point Guard that makes everyone around him better. Boston is a tough matchup because he can hit from outside and slash into the paint to make plays. Boston’s handles are impressive, his jumper is pure, and he is a shifty slasher/finisher. Boston plays with a great basketball sense and he looks to be a PG of the future for the Midgets.

He is an athletic southpaw that gets to the rim and finishes well through contact for only being a frosh. Cruchet is an improving shooter, he has the potential. Colt knocked down 3 trips in a game at Prep Hoops Live. He is an intriguing defender that can handle difficult assignments. Cruchet can also get up and down the court in a hurry. Colt has a quick first step and CC is excited to see him grow into a larger role next winter.
BIG Jack is learning to play more physical in AAU hoops. This will only help him in the long term. He will need to keep improving his physicality and toughness if he wants to make an impact at the varsity level. Wheeldon does have good footwork for his length at this young age. He hustles and plays hard. Jack has shown steady improvement since the first AAU tourney. Expect that steady upward trajectory to continue as he works with coach Glasser and Manson this summer.
