The second live period was underway this past weekend, and Hoop Group put on another big event in their Spring Jamfest at Spooky Nook in Lancaster, PA. The event featured teams from all over the east coast and was chock full of talent for all levels, with college coaches from all over in attendance.

Here's a look at part two of some of the many standouts from the DMV teams in attendance.

[player_tooltip player_id='1948395' first='Javon' last='Brooks'] | 6'3” CG | Team Richmond 17U

Brooks is emerging as one of the breakout players in the HGSL, as the 6'3” combo guard really stepped up this past event and solidified himself as TR's best player. He was aggressive from the jump looking for his shot, and he took the role as the go-to scorer in stride without being a black hole offensively. He showed the ability to create space both on the perimeter and in the midrange to make shots, he rebounded and defended well for his position and he made plays for others when the defense keyed in on him as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='1598941' first='Mason' last='Pulliam'] | 6'0” PG | Team Richmond 17U

Pulliam had a breakout session as well for TR, as the 6'0” guard from Cosby stepped up on both ends and had a good weekend that impressed many coaches. He's a tough nosed guard who gets after it on both ends and plays with great energy, and he impacts the game both in ways that show up in the stat sheet and ones that don't. He shot the ball well from multiple levels and scored it efficiently, he guarded the ball well and fought for loose balls and he made great decisions and rarely made mistakes.

Jaylen Deloatch | 6'1” PG | Team Richmond 16U

Deloatch is emerging as one of the best guards in the Richmond area regardless of class and is having a big summer to show for it. The 6'1” guard out of James River can flat out go, as he can score the ball effortlessly whether he has it in his hands or he's working off the ball, and he's able to get hot quickly and then make plays for others when the defense focuses on him. He's a three level scorer with good quickness and change of direction, and he competes like a mad man on both ends of the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='1236440' first='Alex' last='Chaikin'] | 6'4” WG | [program_tooltip program_id='2078813' first='VA' last='Premier'] 17U

Chaikin has quietly been one of the best shotmakers in the Richmond area over the past few years, and he's starting to turn heads of coaches through the first two live periods. The 6'4” wing has good size on the perimeter and is a confident shooter with deep range, he can get to the midrange where he can rise up and knock down shots and he has a good feel as a scorer. He's been Premier's most efficient and deadly shooter throughout the summer so far and should only continue to get better.

Evan Morton | 6'2” PG | [program_tooltip program_id='2078813' first='VA' last='Premier'] 17U

Morton is straw that stirs the drink for this Premier team, as the NC native is a dynamic guard who is very tough to keep out of the paint. He has a lightning quick first step and great speed in transition, and when he gets downhill he's a strong and explosive finisher who can rise up and play through contact at the rim. He has huge upside defensively as he guards the ball well and can come help side where he can challenge shots despite his height as a guard.

[player_tooltip player_id='1489103' first='Grant' last='Polk'] | 6'6” F | Nova Cavs 17U

Polk continues to just flat out get it done for the Cavs who are having an excellent summer so far. The 6'6” hybrid forward is a key piece for them as he can move to the perimeter when they want to go big and he can also play as a 4 or a 5 if they want to go small and spread the floor. He's a knock down shooter with a quick release and the size to get it off with a hand in his face, he can get out in transition and run with guards and he has the strength to bang in the paint and rebound and finish as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='1759749' first='Bryce' last='Donovan'] | 6'7” PF | Nova Cavs 17U

Donovan and his twin have been a force for the Cavs so far this summer, and he had a couple of eye opening games that make me think he is probably very underrated. The 6'7” forward has great fundamentals in the post as he has good hands and excellent footwork with touch over the shoulder and with both hands at the rim. He's a blue collar guy who works hard in the paint and he has touch to step out and stretch the floor too.
