Grit Region Memorial Classic ~ 16U Top Shooters

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Prep Hoops Grit Region Memorial Classic was another competitive event with teams from Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Tennessee. Memorial Classic was hosted at Fieldhouse USA in Polaris, Ohio, and Westland High School in Galloway, Ohio. This NOVA Village team has dynamic playmakers littered all over the court. Burns gets to be the available recipient of several opportunities. When he gets his feet, shoulders, and hips in rhythm, you can bet on it. His ability to consistently knock down the open shots propelled his squad to a weekend full of wins.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Mason Malone | 6'1" | Midwest Basketball Club Southwest 2025 Creamer | Hamilton (Ohio)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Malone is a tough player that can score the ball from all over the court. He gets highlighted here because of his overall shooting skillset. He possesses the size and length to get his shot off over smaller defenders. But his skill stretches beyond the physical attributes. He has a very quick dribble-to-shot transfer that is tough to contest. Malone has a strong downhill drive that he showcased he can elevate and knock down the mid-game jump shot too. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1588155' first='Maxwell' last='Muhl'] (2026) | 5”10” | Top 1 2025 | Rochester (Michigan)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Muhl shot the ball very well all weekend despite his Top 1 team struggling in the win column. Muhl isn't the tallest player in the gym so he ends up shooting more contested shots than he should. However, as the weekend progressed and Top 1 struggled to score, they could count on Muhl to knock down a shot to keep them in contention. He shoots the ball from the perimeter with good balance and footwork. The next evolution to his game will be to utilize a shot fake and either step forward toward the paint or sidestep and create distance on a long range shot.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1423954' first='Gavin' last='Wright'] | 6'2” | Team Takeoff 2025 | Stivers (Ohio)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Wright plays strong and physical when he needs to. But, he has a solid shot from the perimeter. When Wright shot the ball in rhythm, the ball rarely touched the rim. Another layer to Wright's game is when he gets in the paint area, he can use his size to fade away and still splash in jumpers. His athletic frame gives him an advantage to shoot the ball with little resistance.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Ezekiel Wilson | 5'9" | Detroit Bulldogs 2025 | Rochester Adams (Michigan)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Wilson is an undersized, southpaw with a smooth shot rotation. He plays with pace and looks for shots with his hands ready to fire at any time. You can tell Wilson has been a knockdown shooter for a few years because he has already developed the ability to slither in the paint and work the mid-game angles.
