Continue ReadingThe Lehigh Valley has long been a consistent hotbed of basketball talent in the Commonwealth and the current crop of prospects along the dueling interstates(pro tip: take 78, there’s less traffic there!) has some quality prospects in it. While the AAU scene is in full swing, players from the Lehigh Valley have local opportunities in team showcases at the parks in Allentown to be seen by college coaches and fans as well. Today we look at a handful of East Penn Conference players to watch on the Circuit and also at Cedar.
Nick Coval Nick Coval 6'1" | CG Parkland | 2024 State PA | G | Parkland 2024
Named first team all state as a junior, Coval is the top guard prospect to come out of the Lehigh Valley in some time. He’s a hot handed shooter with underrated athletic ability. A guard who can push it in transition and score in bunches. Coval blasted past the 1,000 point mark and could make a legitimate run at 2,000 this coming season–Which is a serious statement in Class 6A in Eastern Pennsylvania. The son of a college coach, Coval has a high basketball IQ and can facilitate an offense at the college level. He had a season high of 43 vs Bethlehem Catholic. A highly sought after prospect, he has offers from a number of high academic D1 schools, including Bucknell University and an A10 offer from St Joe’s.
Jahrel Vigo Jahrel Vigo 6'1" | CG Allentown Central Catholic | 2025 State PA | G | Allentown Central Catholic 2025
Vigo followed up his “Hey, I just met you” freshman season with a breakout campaign as a sophomore. A big bodied guard who has spring in his step and can get above the rim with superior athleticism. He’s a creative ballhandler and passer with a high ceiling that he is only beginning to tap into. He’ll be a four year contributor for the Vikings. Came on strong in the second half of the year with numerous 15+ point performances, including 24 vs Pottsville Nativity. He could clip off 1,000 by the end of his junior year if he has a big one and Central makes a run into the state playoffs.
Lucas Mushrush Lucas Mushrush 6'3" | SG Allentown Central Catholic | 2025 State PA | G | Allentown Central Catholic 2025
While Vigo gets a lot of the press on the corner of 4th and Chew, Mushrush quietly put together a stellar sophomore season. He’s a got a shooters touch and solid form on his jumper. A sharpshooter who can hit from well beyond the arc with good size at about 6’3″, he’s going to be a key piece of the puzzle the next two seasons for ACC. His breakout moment came in the PIAA State Tournament Second Round, as he hit a buzzer beater from beyond the arc to upset Philly Catholic League power Cardinal O’Hara. He averaged about 12ppg as a sophomore and should be a prospect to watch for a variety of colleges regionally.
Will Barber Will Barber 6'2" | SG Emmaus | 2024 State PA | G | Emmaus 2024
A versatile two sport athlete who competes at a high level in both basketball and lacrosse. Barber is a fundamentally sound guard with quick feet and active hands on defense and a strong frame to get to the bucket on offense. The 6’2″ guard scored over 500pts as a junior and went over 20 several times. He could pass 1,000 points as a senior. Barber has already made a commitment to play lacrosse in college at Saint Joseph’s University.
Jametric Harris Jametric Harris 6'3" | SF Emmaus | 2024 State PA | G | Emmaus 2024
Harris is a talented volleyball player and that spring in his step translates to the basketball court. He’s got a good frame and emerged throughout his junior campaign as a legitimate three point threat. After posting 25 against Parkland and 24 against Allen, Harris is set to join Barber as a second multi-sport athlete in the Emmaus backcourt. The Hornets should be tough next season and he’s a name to know.
