Here, we take a look at part one of some of the sophomores that could be some of the many new additions to the class of 2025.
Adrean Newton | 6’0” PG | Maury
Newton has been one of the top young guards in the 757 as he’s started for Maury the last two years in which they made state playoff runs, and somehow we just forgot about him. He’s a true floor general who commands the game and makes others better, he’s lightning quick off the bounce and is very shifty and he can score the ball in different ways when he needs to.
Jayvion Green | 6’5” WF | Maury
Green is another impressive player for this Maury team, as he checks all the boxes physically and athletically and is full of next level potential as he continues to develop. He already has a strong frame that should continue to fill out as he grows into his body and hits the weight room, he works well off the ball to get open on cuts and screens and he’s a good rebounder too.
Alex Etheridge | 6’2” WG | Kellam
Etheridge is another player out of the 757 to keep an eye on, as he has a lot of game on an emerging Kellam team with a lot of talent. The 6’2” wing is known for his ability to make shots and he does so very well especially on the move, but he also has shown the ability to break down defenders off the bounce and he’s a very smart defender with a high IQ.
Jaylen Deloatch | 6’1” PG | James River (Richmond)
Deloatch could be the breakout player in the Richmond area this year, as the 6’1” lead guard had a good sophomore season and is off to a blazing start this summer. He’s a go-getter type of player with the ball in his hands as he can create space off the bounce and make tough shots, he gets to the rim where he’s a good finisher and he makes good reads when he’s doubled and the defense collapses.
Trey Fitch Trey Fitch 6'5" | SG Fairfax Christian | 2026 State VA | 6’4” WG | Rock Ridge
Fitch is following right in his brother Alex’s footsteps, who was one of the best players at Rock Ridge when the school first opened, and there’s a lot of similarities to their game. At 6’4” he has good size on the wing and is an absolute driller from deep with effortless range and great form, he gets hot quickly and can fill it up in bunches and he’s a smart kid both on the court and in the classroom.
Jordan Jackson | 6’7” PF | Highland Springs
Jackson’s part of a young HSHS team that has a very bright future, and he has a lot of upside as a prospect moving forward. The 6’7” forward is a good athlete with long arms that gets off his feet well to challenge shots, he runs the floor hard and gets rewarded with easy buckets in transition and he can step out on the perimeter where he can knock down shots and stretch the floor.
