A Few TN Players will Play at the Rock the Rock Saturday

The event is almost entirely composed of South Carolina, North Carolina, or Georgia teams, but Tennessee sent one or two. He was a role player on the team, and deserved to be included for a couple of reasons: tenacity, shooting touch, defensive commitment. He will likely be a little small to play college 2-guard, but you never know. Also, there is an intangible value to winning games. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>"<strong>Dace Potts</strong> is a 2025 sophomore," said Head Coach Schaun Potts. Last year at DB they were large school state champions. This year they made a State Tournament appearance. He probably started eight games as a sophomore. More of a pass-first mentality. Great on-ball defender. Coaches think he is super-IQ and doesn't turn it over. DB has 2400 students, but he was able to work his way into the rotation with low A/TO ratio. That is my son. He has been raised in the gym." </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>"[<strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2702797' first='Cory' last='Carpenter']</strong>] is more of a pure shooter," said Head Coach Schaun Potts. "He is a three-point threat. [player_tooltip player_id='1140784' first='Kyle' last='Cloninger'] and Cory was on a team together and everything goes through Kyle. Cory had to be an off-the-ball scorer and that is what he is for me. He is about 5-foot-11." </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>"<strong>Brizen Solomon</strong> (Grainger)...he has a high octane motor," said Head Coach Schaun Potts. "Just plays hard. He does everything you ask. He is a difference maker. He is about 6-foot-5. He plays a 4 for me. His next step is being able to play back-to-basket. He is better eyes to the basket. He always beats the other players down the floor."</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>"<strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2367359' first='Lance' last='Carrico']</strong> (North Greene) is a 6'5" pure shooter," said Head Coach Schaun Potts. "His weakness is...he has to play on the balls of his feet, but he has to be quicker. He is a tall shooter, but he has to be able to guard. In AAU, I have him in the corner and on the week. He plays for North Greene though, and at his height he is on the block. In high school, they are grooming him to be a post, which is good because he is more versatile." </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>"<strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1564497' first='Charlie' last='McHugh']</strong> is a junior," said Head Coach Schaun Potts. "I work him out regularly. He plays for DB, where my son plays. He started every game as a junior. He is gritty. He is learning to score better. Really high IQ. A 32 on the ACT, the first time he took it. He is going to find out what the team needs and do it."</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Right now, Charlie is a 2024. He is working on mid-range, floaters with Coach Potts. "With [player_tooltip player_id='1408711' first='Brady' last='Stump'] and Jonovan gone, they were like prolific scorers, we have to find some scorers.
